Anyone planning on checking this out? The 12/8 show is as close as this will be to San Diego, so I think I'm probably missing it.

"The Brit DJ/producer has always had misgivings about the typical tour circuit, and this is a clear move to shake things up. 'I just don't see myself going out on tour with a group of musicians,' the former Housemartins bassist told Rolling Stone. 'Sound checks still give me nightmares.'"

Is that just a fancy way of saying "my songs suck, so I am going to make elaborate sets and productions to hide that fact"? (I don't know his music, so I'm only guessing.)

Though I guess if Bootsy is guesting on the disc, it can't be all that bad.

I doubt it. The L.A. show is in the Natural History museum. Now granted, I don't exactly follow the L.A. concert scene, but this does seem a little different to me.

Exactly my point. What I'm saying is, I tend to question someone's motives for trying to "be different" in that way. I always suspect that the reason performers go to great lengths to construct elaborate sets is to distract from their uninteresting music. Again, I'm just guessing here, not really being familiar with Fatboy Slim aside from "The Rockefeller Skank."

I'm very interested in this. I've been to two of his previous shows and, aside from the oddity of paying money to stand around and watch a guy spin records, they were a blast. He's bringing a live band to Letterman (I think) on Nov. 9. If that's good and he's bringing that same band on tour I'll most likely go.
