O'Fallon Pumpkin Ale (http://www.ofallonbrewery.com/products.html) takes it for me.
It's a beer light on hops, which is good for a flavored beer. The pumpkin also doesn't overpower the beer, which tells of a beer the makers think is brewed well even without the pumpkin. The spice simply ads to what would be an enjoyable tasting experience otherwides.
This beer also goes quite well with dinner or simply with popcorn and a baseball game. | Promote this thread! |             | PalpatineW

One thing I've noticed in my limited experience with spiced beers, is that it seems better on draft.
Last winter, I enjoyed a pint of Harpoon Winter Warmer. Just a slight hint of whatever it is they use to flavor it. Bottled, however, I found the flavor to be almost overpowering. I mention this because I've had the same experience with Pumpkin beers.
