I dont know if this belongs in the "Wrestlers Attacking Fans" thread or not. Feel free to move it to wherever.

From Wrestleview.com:

Sunday afternoon at WWE's SmackDown house show in Montreal, D-Von Dudley nearly got physical with a WWE fan. Here is the full story.

A WWE fan was sitting near ringside at the house show and was basically mouthing off, just like many fans do. During the main event, when the Dudleys and others came out for the brawl after the Booker T/Bradshaw main event, the fan, along with many were just chanting things at random. D-Von did his spot in the ring and was kicked to the outside towards the security rail, where the fan was. The fan tapped D-Von on the elbow, just like many fans tap wrestlers on the back when they're near the crowd. Other fans also tapped D-Von (like a tap on the back.) D-Von turns around and tells the fan "Don't f*ckin' touch me." Which was proof that the fan didn't hit D-Von, he simply tapped him on the elbow. D-Von was standing on the outside of the ring and the fan says "Hey D-Von, move I can't see."

D-Von Dudley asked the fan to come closer to the rail and to say it to his face, but the fan just stood there. D-Von kept repeating it, then security came and asked what was going on, D-Von replies "I want the kid to hit me, so I can hit him back." If a fan hits a wrestler, the wrestler has the authority to hit him back, self defense. But the fan didn't hit D-Von and D-Von was apparently fed up with the fan's big mouth and just wanted a reason to hit him. D-Von snapped and shoved the Bell Centre security and grabbed the fan against the rail and made him go face to face with him. The fan, who's scheduled for back surgery this Friday, due to a car accident from earlier this year, simply told D-Von "Let me go man, my back really hurts, I am scheduled for surgery on Friday." D-Von still had his hands on the fan, then security tried to stop it again. At that point, security grabbed the fan and finally pulled him back. Bubba then came out of nowhere and told the fan "Your mom is a whore."

After the show, many fans were waiting in back of the arena to watch the wrestlers leave. The fan and his friends were at the light waiting to cross the street, while other people were still in front of the arena garage. Suddenly, D-Von stops at the red light and both the fan and D-Von spot each other. The fan yells "What D-Von? What do you want? What are you going to do, you hurt my back?" D-Von leaves his car at the light on the street and rushes out to get in the fan's face, then he started shoving the fan and asking him what he's going to do. The fan told D-Von that he had a bad back and to stop what he's doing. D-Von let go of him, but stayed face to face. A WWE security was also driving and saw this happening, he immediately got out of his vehicle and proceeded to stop the argument/altercation.

Security pushed the fan instead of holding D-Von back. The fan said "You're not allowed to do this." The WWE security said "I'm allowed to do whatever I want." They both went back to their cars and that was it.

D-Von dosen't seem like the kind of guy that would do something like this. I wonder what WWE will do to him, if anything

Maybe not lately, but I remember both Bubba and D-Von got INCREDIBLE heel heat in ECW, and almost came to blows with people on several occasions. I was ringside for one show, and both him and another fan had to be held back by security. There were fans who just wanted to kill them some nights.

Of course, this story seems a little unlikely to me for some reason.

This might be blown out of proportion, using the many references to the fan's back. Although on the other hand something did happen between D-Von and a fan Sunday.

Odd indeed. Sounds like some facts might have been blown up way past some proportions. Like Chris Benoit once said, "The Internet blows things way out of control". I think D-Von was probably having a bad day on the job and apparently it was probably one of those wrong place wrong time scenarios. At least I hope.

All we can do is speculate as to how much of this story is true or not. The article does have that whole high-school "we were at a show and he did this and I came back with that and then he did this and I'm so tough that I said this, and blah, blah, blah."

D-Von first response, telling the fans not to touch him, sounds like typical heel tactics and nothing more. Egging a fan on to hit him is a little extensive, but I could still see a variety of wrestlers doing that. Grabbing him was a bit much, but one can see that nothing came of it. Bubba's response is typical heel-talk as well.

From the way this article reads, I would suspect some fan said something incredibly stupid to a very large and very-quick-to-anger man. I've seen this kind of thing happen at shows before, and there seems to be an mentality that makes some fans believe they are still watching a television show and have no sense of possible injuries they could obtain by acting like a jerk.

The fan pleading about his bad back is funny, though. All ready to scream at D-Von, but when it comes down to being confronted by the wrestler, the fan starts complaining about his back problem. Y'know, if you've got a bad back, maybe you shouldn't be trying to start a fight with the guy out in the streets.

That's ridiculous. Judging solely by what was represented in the story (which may or may not be presenting the whole story/truth), D-Von is completely at fault all the way around. It doesn't matter what the fan said at the show, or how big of a jerk he acted, unless he physically threatens D-Von (or any other wrestlers), D-Von has absolutely no right whatsoever to grab the fan.

As for in the street, it doesn't sound to me like he was trying to pick a fight w/ D-Von. More of a "didn't you do enough already?" reaction from the fan to D-Von staring him down.

I was referring here to the situation out in the streets rather then the situation in the arena itself. As I mentioned before, grabbing the fan was over-the-top. Still, nothing came of it besides a fan pleading not to be hurt because he has a "bad back."

Also, as you said, we have no idea what else was exactly said to D-Von that made him react the way he did. Given that the rumor here really favors the fan instead of the wrestler, who knows what was really said to him to get him angry?

Still no reason for D-Von to grab the guy. He's making big bucks to play a heel, he should know fans are going to say all kinds of crap to him, running the gamut from good-natured taunts to racial/personal stuff. He's got to be smart enough to shrug it off and ignore the guy. That's what security is for. Have the guy thrown out if he's over the line in what he said.

Yeah, like the fan calmly stating "Let me go man, my back really hurts, I am scheduled for surgery on Friday" while in the clutches of an overbearing wrestler.

You guys are all rubes. The following post is not to be considered factual, mererly my personal opinion.

This report was being written by the guy that is being described as "A fan".

Are you telling me you can't pick up the obvious problems with this?

1) In order to hear what the fan said the first time, the "reporter" had to be within feet of him in the arena

2) In order to know what happened after the show, the fan had to be within 50 feet of the reporter, who then would have had to run over within feet of the person to hear the exchange.

3) The "impartial reporter" makes sure to invent a stupid defense immediately. How the hell does a wrestler turning around and yelling "Don't touch me" = see, that fan over there must have just tapped him on the elbow.

4) This reporter noticed things that no reporter would have before the story started - the location of where the fan touched D-Von, for example.

In summary: You have no idea what happened. This is most likely a "report" by someone trying to get themselves over. If I had to guess, I'd assume that very important facts were left out, including:

a) initial comments by the fan, probably very incindiary. I'm guessing racist, but perhaps just very crude and/or smarky.
b) misrepresentation of the "tap". He is obviously worried that he might have been at fault for hitting him, so he justifies it away preemptively.

Geeze. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. I have no idea if I'm right, but I think it's more likley that I'm right than that this was an impartial news story about D-Von attacking a fan.

Well then, then I guess maybe 10 or 15 percent of that story is true. But what gets me is why is the "fan" all up in his grill. I would have backed off....

Yikes...

Maybe there is a whole lot more to this story.
