Grief I might understand. But shock? She was 101 years old! I'd be shocked if she hadn't died today.
But, in the spirt, I'll share my queen mum joke. When I was in England I took a tour called "Eccentric London" which turned out to more or less be a euphamism for "Gay London." The guide told a story about when the queen mum was being transported somewhere by the merchant navy. Apparently the merchant navy has a rep for being gay. Also, apparently the queen mum had a rep for being a drunk.
Anyway, in the story the queen mum couldn't sleep and decided to got to the kitchen and get a drink. Upon arriving, she saw the merchant navy having a party and engaging in their shenanigans. TO which the queen mum said "I don't know about you old queens, but this old queen would like a bottle of gin."
