They shot it 1.78:1, obviously preserving the widescreen here, and the result is gorgeous, even for a two-camera comedy shoot. The extras are solid, with commentaries (that I haven't listened to,) an extended pilot (with Tambor shocking me with the f-bomb; no bleeps here, though the eps are left censored, good for comic effect,) some neat docus and much of the songs scored for the program playable by themselves. It's one of the better TV show DVD sets I've seen.
Here's the odd part, though...
I've watched about twelve of the episodes, and was thrown for a loop at the beginning of one of them. Before "Storming the Castle," the third ep on the second disc, the episode titles begin as always...only here they contain something I've never before seen on a DVD:
The TV-PG (L) rating box.
If that wasn't enough, as the titles end and segue to episode proper, Fox's "Widescreen Digital" bug appears as it does on FBC when the show is transmitted.
A screencap for your enjoyment.
How the hell did that end up on the DVD? And just for that episode?
Bizarre, but I have no room to complain given the AWESOME this show brings. Promote this thread! | | chzkildare

And not just because you have (I assume) Mitch Herwitz as the dry-run narrator instead of Ron. Unlike The Office DVD, where some of the deleteds were as hilarious as the stuff that made it, you can really understand why a lot of the Arresteds were cut. They're not without deliciousness, of course. My favorite one being when Maeby asks George Michael for a Hitler-themed birdhouse and he says "I'm so over you." Bwaha.
(P.S. & it goes without saying that this ***** sent from heaven show of a lifetime and one ought to buy the magical DVD.) | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
