Wasn't sure if this was more appropriate for the Football forum or the Politics form. I settled on Football, obviously.

Anyway, here's an interesting coincidence.

In the previous 15 elections, if the Washington Redskins have lost their last home game prior to the election, the incumbent party has lost the White House. When they have won, the incumbent has stayed in power.

So according to this "fact", if the Redskins win their upcoming home game, President Bush will win the election and stay in office. If the Redskins lose the game, Kerry will win the election and be our new president.

This election year, the deciding game takes place on Sunday, October 31.......vs. The Green Bay Packers.

For the factual information on every home Redskin game before the Presidential election and how the outcome of the game matched up with the election results, check out http://www.snopes.com/sports/football/election.asp, which is where I found this interesting coincidence.

I saw that article too and it's just a weird coincidence.

Yeah the Skins are sucking this year, but they beat the Bears which beat the Pac. In a round-about way the Skins (2-4-0) could be considered better than the Pac (2-4-0).

You're telling me.

And every time he comes to this area (and that's been quite a few now), Kerry has made sure to pander to Packer fans...er, mention that stat and back the Pack in that game (despite his being a Patriots fan.)

I may need to pow-wow with both my good buddies Jack Daniels and Jim Beam {/George Thorogood} to get through that one.

Thanks for the link. As if I needed more reason to hate this jackass, the site says he also "praised the OSU football team... on a visit to Michigan." Dumb bitch. GO SKINS!!

Ah yes, the Transitive Property of Sports. My mates and I used to apply this theory to our high school soccer team so we could prove we won state each year.

Of course, the Packers lost to the Grossman Bears, whereas the Redskins beat the Jonathan Quinn, Medicine Man Bears.

We shall see, also the Nickeldon kids' poll has been right since they started and they had Kerry by a landslide. If they do reverse this stuff this year, we might actually *gasp* have to count votes.

Game, set, match to Grimis.

Hell, these type of things always happen in 3's: the Red Sox reverse the curse (YES!!!), my unbeaten fantasy team suffers its first loss, and now Dubya wins!

As the mighty Meat Loaf once told us all, 2 outta 3 ain't bad.

I KNEW the world seemed off, but I just couldn't put my finger on why. The Red Sox won the World Series? No, that's not it. W reverses the "Redskins predict the election" trend? Maybe, but I don't think so.

Oh, that's it. THE THRILL'S FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM LOST! THAT's the third thing. I thought it might have been Arafat dying, or Castro breaking his hip (or whatever). Silly me.

*It's possible that may be the jealousy over my OWN sad-assed fantasy football team talking. Possibly.

Actually we hit it earlier this year when Steve Smith won the "Game before the game" and then went on to lose the Superbowl.
