| #1 Posted on 15.10.04 2033.41 Reposted on: 15.10.11 2033.43 | The New York Post (motto: We occasionally print in English) reported today that ESPN decided not to renew their contract with Mel Kiper, Draft Expert.
This apparently was news to Mel, who thought they were still negotiating.
According to Andy Polley, on the Sports Reporters today, Mel said they were still talking and he hoped that a deal could still get done.

I guess they'll have to promote Corey Chavous to the main desk for his draft analysis. | StaggerLee

I mean, people disappear once they leave the network, even if it's for "bigger gigs" (Kilborn, Eisen, KO).

See, if it was me, I'd say *ANY ONE* can cover the draft like Mel.
Personally, I think Mel is one of the most overrated figures in all of sports journalism. I'd be really, really happy if I never had to see his pompous and perfect coif on my TV ever again. Of course, that's just my opinion and allegedly rational and informed people may disagree.

This is the newspaper that said that Dick "Charismaless" Gephardt was going to be John Kerry's VP. Translation: I wouldn't believe a Post exclusive even if I had been smoking with Ricky Williams for a few hours. ;) | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
