Likely contenders:
The NFC West - Neither Arizona, or San Fransisco look that great.
The AFC North - Ditto for the Browns and the Ravens. Depending on the situation there though, both of those teams might be vying for a playoff spot and playing their hearts out.
Buffalo - Not looking that great. Could easily see them dropping at least one to their division rival.
Or could we actually see the return of the No Win Season to the state of Florida?

HAHAHAHA!!! The Dolphins will win at least one because the Browns always blow it against the winless (see: San Diego). As for the playoff spot, well, that would probably be the Ravens, but certainly not the Brownies. Not this year, anyway. (sigh.)
Y'know, I'm gonna just make Grimis' day and say it now. The Browns have *NO* heart this year. I hope they can recover and show me otherwise, but they look and act like they're already defeated.
I haven't been able to see, but have the 'Phins been hanging tough even though they're undermanned? I know they had a good game against Cincy in week 2.
My bet is either Arizona or Cleveland will lose to the Phins. | Jaguar

In my mind, it's quite possible that none of those teams will win another game besides divisional matchups for the rest of the year. So the Browns vying for a playoff spot? Laughable, yes, but far from impossible.
The Dolphins defense is good enough to win one of those games. It'll be interesting to see who jobs.

The defense has been playing great. It's just that the offense can't do squat, and is turning the ball over way too much. They've got (IIRC) at least 3 int's returned for TD's.

Every game is a matter of waiting to see when the Dolphin QB throws the defensive touchdown. At least it was early in the game this week.
I feel for the defense. There is only so long in the games that they can hold the opposition off.
Their best opportunities are:
Nov. 7 - Arizona at home
Dec 5 - Buffalo at home
(I thought this would be the one, but if the Bills stay with McGahee, they will be much better for the rest of the year)
Dec 26 - Cleveland at home
Nov 28 - at San Fran
All the rest would be surprises...

Makes me reminisce about 1990, when the Browns went 3-13... but by God they beat Denver 30-29 At Mile High on Monday Night when Jerry f'n Kauric hit the game-winning FG as time expired. *Made* the season right there.

I remember that game quite well. Wasn't it Vernon F'n Joines who caught a big pass during crunch time?! That was the poor guy's career. Broncos were running guys like Kip Corrington and Bruce Plummer in the secondary around that time. Horrible year for both of the teams.
But we were quickly over that loss. Went in to Cleveland the next year...Elway fired a dart to Michael Young as they won. The next year, Greg Lewis ran over the Browns while David "3 Boinks" Treadwell kicked four field goals for the Broncos' ONLY road win of 1992. Year after that, the Wade Phillips Donkies ruined the Browns decent start. The year after that, the 7-9 Broncos demolished playoff bound Cleveland. Come to think of it...I don't think the Browns have beaten the Donkies since 1990... unless you count Baltimore lineage. With all this reminiscing, I'm sure I'm now your favorite poster.

Unlikely given that they had chalked up a win several hours before your post no?
I mentioned before the start of the season that Miami SHOULD be able to have a moderate season even without Ricky. While that's now highly unlikely I stand by the fact that they shouldn't be anywhere near as sucky as they are.
All it would take is for them to convince one of their QB's to not turn the ball over more than once a game and their D should be plenty good enough to keep them in most games. And really with the targets they've got that should be plenty do-able.
I'll take them to beat San Fran, Buffalo and possibly Arizona and Cleveland. | JoshMann

Look at the bright side: If this somehow leads to Wannestadt retaining his job, the Dolphins could try for 0-16 next season with a defense getting even closer to being over the hill. | JoshMann

It's not that they're over the hill yet, it's that they're wearing down from being on the field 40 game minutes a week. This past game was the first time that the offense was able to sustain drives and GLORY BE, the defense still had something in the tank in the 4th quarter.
Taylor looked good Sunday, Thomas looked good, Knight looked good, Morlon Greenwood is still useless, and Madison/Surtain shut down Bruce/Holt almost completely and forced them to keep going to McDonald.
The problem with this team is completely the offense and it's been their inability to block/pass/run/move the ball/hold on to the ball/score/not put the defense into impossible situations/do ANYTHING that has hampered the defense. Although that said they're going to need a few new guys (LE, OLB, DT) in the front seven when this season's over. | estragand
