I don't know if there are any fans of this show on the W, but if you have time on your Sunday evenings and are a fran of inteeligent TV, I suggest that you give this a gander (although you might want to go here first to catch up and be able to follow everything).

This could be easily considered the best drama HBO has shown since the early days of the Sopranos or Six Feet Under if death and depression if your thing. The Wire is a smart, no-holds-barred portrayal of urban life and politics in Baltimore (where the truth is realy just below the surface in a lot of ways). Beyond just mindless/constant action or episodic wrap-ups, story lines linger and interlock (like life--whoda thought?). Both the Law and the Dealers (among others) are well developed and very complex--the cops ain't all good and the dealers ain't all bad. Takes some concentration, but well worth it.

Season One is out of DVD this Teusday as well--so you could always get it from NetFlix.

Only this show could make me miss most of the Ravens-Skins game on ESPN.

I was waiting for season 3 more then the Soprano's last season. I love this show. A lot of people bred on Law & Order and CSI, may be turned off due to everything not being neatly wrapped up at the end of the hour.

I keep hearing good things about the show, but I keep putting off watching it for some reason. Maybe I'll give it a try next week.

It's not the easiest showto jump in on, but wellworth it if you can--things tends to build slowly, although they all progress from different start points, so there's always something interesting happening. The Wire also has that neat Sopranos thing where the title is something that someone in the episode says (I think the title is stated the previous episode with the Sopranos, to be particular). They may even have some episodes On Demand (if you have evil Comcast Digital Cable).
