Just watched the Chris Benoit DVD a few days ago and i have a question for the Weiner's out there While watching the first match where Benoit took on Liger Tazz said that he had never saw Liger's face.
Do you think that is true are masks taken that seriously in Japan I know they are taken seriously in Mexico because about a week before i watched AAA When World Collide. In the double hair: double mask match i honestly thought the crowd were going to riot. (Oh and Eddie is a riot in that PPV)
Also i heard that Liger is doing some shows for ROH when are they and is there any chance i could see it in thw wrestling channel in the uk.

Sometimes. Lyger's actually been unmasked in New Japan more than once. The best was the Deathmatch against The Great Muta. Muta tears off Lyger's mask, and Lyger has Muta paint underneath.

I can't remember if that was true... or I just said it as a joke and began to think that it was true. | TheGreekPhysique

| #4 Posted on 7.10.04 1758.18 Reposted on: 7.10.11 1759.01 | I've got a Owen Hart vs. Keiichi Yamada (Liger) match somewhere and the one thing I thought and still think is that Yamada was a very good looking kid and had a great physique ( and who knows more about physiques then The Greek Physique, eh? ), so I dont understand why he would don a mask AND cover his entire body in a suit. Maybe time has taken its toll over the years but back then... I guess this was 1990ish, he looked real good and marketable.
I think the mask etiquette goes deeper in Mexico. MUCH deeper. | Craigerson

Isn't the character "Jushin Liger" some sort of cartoon character in Japan? I thought that's what I had heard. Similar to I believe how Tiger Mask was based on a cartoon character?
I'm more than likely wrong, because I can't find anything on Google about it. | StampedeFan23

I've seen many Yamada matches from Stampede. And, yes, Jushin Liger is a cartoon character in Japan. If I remember, he turns into a half-lion/half-tiger (a Liger) | kazhayashi81

But I could've sworn the Liger cartoon in Japan was because of the wrestler, and not the wrestler because of the cartoon.
But I could always be very wrong. | BigVitoMark

I heard the same thing a couple years back. IIRC, his argument was that since he had campaigned under the mask and been elected as The Great Sasuke he should be allowed to represent his constituents under the mask as The Great Sasuke. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
