The biggest problem with RTR breaking kayfabe is at the end it didn't break kayfabe. Okay, you're telling me that pro wrestling is all fake, and that Oliver Platt's success is all a product of Joey Pants' script, but at the end he's really fighting on that gigantic cage? When did it beccome real??? OH MY ACHING HEAD.

NHB is 80's camp, AND it has KURT FULLER~! Fuller is powerful enough to ofset Hogan, and that's saying a lot.

I'm going to hate myself for saying this, but I really liked NHB. Hogan tried to act. Was it terrible...YES! David Arquette cannot act, yet he became a world champ...and hung out with DDP and Page's wife...and he's doing Courtny Cox...I just can't help but hate the guy. And Hogans crying performance in NHB was quite possibly the greatest thing ever. That and the write up of it on wrestlecrap.
All the marbles was good. I've been using the sunset flip like crazy since then.

Hogan's "acting" when his brother comes out of the coma is a solid 88 on the Unintentional Comedy Scale. Also, how come "jock ass" never got over the hump as a catchphrase?

HowEVER, it did unwittingly predict the coming of the Monday Night Wars and created a battleground template for both the UFC and for NWA-TWA to steal AND had there been no such thing as NHB there would have been no World Title victory by Randy Savage at WrestleMania IV, which is one of my favoritest moments ever.

Plus, without Zeus, there would have been no Deebo.

"Paradise Alley", the ending of which looked like a main event in San Juan (the weather, not the juicing).

SIDENOTE: The theme song in "Paradise Alley" is performed by Tom MF'n Waits, who has a small part in the movie as well. But if you look at the credits, the song was written by Stallone, which just struck me as odd that Stallone had a Tom Waits at his disposal and that's when he decides to venture into songwriting.

I have to defend Body Slam on the grounds of Charles Nelson Reilly and it was probably the last moment where members of the AWA (Sheik Adnan Al-Kaisse), NWA (Ric Flair, Konga the Barbarian) and WWF (Tonga Kid, Piper, Bruno, Albano) would appear together. For 1985 and the early stages of Vince's path of destruction, that is shocking. And, unlike RTR and NHB, at least this movie didn't screw around with booking of PPV's. NHB led to Zeus main eventing SummerSlam '89, and RTR led to the nightmare that closed the coffin on WCW.

I remember being like nine or ten years old and being absolutely terrified that Zeus was going to kill Hulk Hogan.

Any of you have the DVD for Ready to Rumble? Watch it with the commentary track. Those guys knew the movie sucked while making it and pretty much only did it for the money and to have fun filming it.

If you watch just the movie, without the commentary, then yes, it did completely suck, but the commentary makes it a billion times better.

Ah, the joys of being old.

"MAD BULL"

Starring Alex Karras as a pro wrestler stalked by a killer, and other plot things. A few ex-wrestlers in the cast, and a small part for Regis Philbin!

Wait, I just remembered a really bad movie. It had Buff Bagwell in it and it was basically a softcore porn movie. I cant remember the name off hand. He was some indian warrior/wrestler in it. It came out during the mid 90's. I remember going to Blockbuster and renting it.

EDIT: Its called Day of the Warrior. Here's the link to IMDB's info:

"Day of the Warrior" is a camp classic. You have to love anything produced by Andy Sedaris, because it means big guns, bigger explosions and *GINORMOUS* boobies.

Best wrestling movie? Asia Carrera in 1998's classic "Nude World Order".

And "No Holds Barred" was dreadful, but it had David Paymer, who may be the only Hulk Hogan co-star to be nominated for an Oscar.

I think that the best wrestling movie ever has got to be Foul King, a Korean movie. Great brawl at the end.

Golly...such hate for "Body Slam". I mean, Ginger Lynn gave a decent performance: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0264434/

But in case you're talking about the movie with Piper, you have to consider that it was directed by Hal Needham. The same guy who did "Cannonball Run" and "Megaforce". In other words, a guy who enjoyed working with Captain Chaos, Terry Bradshaw and Ace Hunter's flying motorcycle. I'm shocked that Needham didn't do "Flash Gordon". If he did, then he would have been my Official Movie Director.

"Body Slam" was supposed to be a comedy...alebit not a very good comedy. Same for "Ready to Rumble"..it was intended to be a comedy, albeit not a very good one. The line: "would a complete loser have tickets to Monday Nitro?!" "Yes...he would!". That's somewhat humorous.

"No Holds" gets my vote as the worst. If you watch the WM5 promo for "No Holds", it's like they're trying to sell it as an action flick. Hogan busting out of a limo and fighting thugs was intended to be serious. And the scenes that were intended to be comedy? Stan Hansen checking out some dude's junk in a filthy bathroom isn't covered in the Rules of Comedy.

And..I'm usually hesitant to agree with someone named "meat curtains"... but yes, Mimi was hot.

You're forgetting that he ALSO directed Smokey and the Bandit and one of my favorite crap movies ever, Stroker Ace.

I'll give Bodyslam a free pass because, for the LOVE OF GOD, it has Billy Barty calling Dirk Benedict a faggot. Now THAT'S entertainment. Plus there's a 2 second Flair cameo at the end.

R2R is the worst wrestling movie ever. At least with No Holds Barred you can go back and laugh at all the weird, cheesy, or nonsensical stuff in it. Ready 2 Rumble is just hard to watch.

Do you not know the awesomely bad power of BACKYARD DOGS!?

It is so bad, that it is MOTHERFUCKING AWESOME.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0241218/

But to be fair, it's one redeeming quality: The smoking hot Bree Turner being... well... smoking hot.

Oh, I was going to mention this steaming pile of nonsensical shiite. Bree was hot, but not naked, thus killing that factor. Plus, the movie had the black Power Ranger. Eeek.

It was still better than R2R though.

An entire thread about cheesy wrestling movies, and not one of you mentions "The Wrestler"?

http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0070930/

Or "The One And Only"?

Now those are some bad wrestling movies...
