When he looks down on us all, hopefully he'll see that he had our respect the entire time.

Makes you think: how many comedians get their jokes turned into that sort of universal cultural touchstone? | jwrestle

That tells you the sence of humor he had. I will miss him because I always enjoyed his work and I always got to make fun of my English teacher for having his last name even though she had no relation. | geemoney

1. He's the only reason why I don't mind hearing Journey's "Any Way You Want It."
2. In Back to School his character paid Kurt Vonnegut (not some actor playing him) to write an essay on Kurt Vonnegut. The professor's reaction? "You obviously don't know anything about Vonnegut." Practically defined my college experience in literature classes. | dunkndollaz

Legend gets thrown around a lot, but this man was truly a LEGEND in his field, and pretty good branching out into others (acting).
I remember listening to a tape of him live and the funniest part was when he just started ripping on hecklers. He was brutal.
Hopefully Kinnison was there to greet him. Kauffman too. | bash91

| #14 Posted on 6.10.04 1943.59 Reposted on: 6.10.11 1944.12 | The most enduring memory I have of Rodney Dangerfield was listening to him, circa 1995, tell us that he still didn't get any respect after the Motion Picture Academy told him he wasn't a good enough actor to be allowed to join their august group. Sometimes, you just have to live the gimmick, and sometimes, the gimmick lives you.
RIP Rodney, I bet you're getting some respect now.
