I usually watch Leno because he always has good guests on. The quality of guests is usually top shelf, and writing is not that bad. Letterman, I feel, can interview a broomstick. With Dave you get a real sense that you are watching a highly intelligent man, especially when he interviews government officials or someone who requires a higher level of intelligence to properly engage. Dave seamlessly does that, whereas Leno seems to dumb down the guest to the level I assume he thinks his audience is at.

Conan is my favourite. I think, as my generation ages and becomes wives and husbands and parents, Conan will be the person we go to because he was the one who made us laugh all through high school and college. Only problem I see is that by then Conan will be 46. How long will he have the show? 10 years?

O'Brien's best asset is his ability to make crappy shows utterly hilarious. When he KNOWS a bit is bombing, he points it out and the audience laughs at it in a roundabout way.

Not only the skits, but the interviews too. I mean I only watch Leno or Letterman if one of my favorite people are on, and even then I just watch their segment and that's it. And sometimes I still dont like all that much. But Conan could talk to absolutely anyone and I would laugh my butt off. And the interviews he has with Clinton, Arnold, Bush, Sadam, are hilarious, probably my second favorite part of the show only behind the Walker Texas Ranger lever.

They don't want a repeat of the Carson/Leno/Letterman situation, most likely, and they're worried that the big chair at CBS might open up without Conan locked in.

Wait...Roy said this in post #2. Aie!

When Leno goes, can his replacement (whether it be Conan or not) keep Kevin and the band? They're the best part of the show, in my opion.

I can't imagine Conan not having Max around. Yes, I know he goes with Springsteen and is off once in a while, but you know what I mean.

If Max doesn't stay, I'd say having an entirely new band is more likey than Kevin and Co. staying.

At least then we can get bits like, "Today is the 5th anniversary of the day I was officially fired." That has potential

Don't they already? Ain't Comedy Central part of the Viacom empire?

Despite my respect for Leno as a fellow biker, I've always been a Letterman/Kilborn man...but I dig Conan. Viva Triumph and the Chuck Norris Lever.

I don't really know, I don't know much about what companies belong to who and all that, but Conan reruns on Comedy Central so it would make sense to me that NBC and Comedy Central are owned by the same people, not CBS? Just a guess, I don't really know.

Viacom owns Comedy Central (and CBS), but Comedy Central does have some sort of an agreement with NBC, as they used to have Conan reruns (I don't see them anymore), and they also have the Last Comic Standing agreement.

So, yes, CBS, does, technically, have Jon Stewart, but I don't think it's as easy as everybody might think if they wanted him in Letterman's chair. I think Comedy Central falls into the MTV Networks part of the company, while CBS falls into the uh...CBS TV part of the company. I'm not sure if they are interchangable.

Leno gets on my nerves. How many different features can you have the plays up the "Hey look aren't people stupid". He started with Jay Walking now he's got that lame trivia show... Letterman isn't as great as he once was but still light years ahead of Leno IMO,

Conan okay, but I wrote in a Kilborn leaving thread. I was always a bigger fan of Criag style. But O'Brian is fine as well... I think the one question in everyone's mind has to be. When will it be Rita Sever turn to shine! I'll shamefully say, I actually watched and liked those Friday Night shows at 1:30AM.

PS. Jim Rome guest hosting the Late, Late Show. That has to be SEEN!

Conan hasn't been the same since Andy Richter left. Leno has Kevin; David has Paul, but Conan doesn't really have a sidekick (Max Weinberg doesn't really count) so here's hoping something changes when he gets the ~chair in five years.
