Hopefully Fox can get some attention drawn to its gem now; too bad we have to wait until November for new episodes (DVDs in mid-October!)
Individual awards...well, all I'll say is at least Frasier and Sex and the City aren't eligible next season. This isn't like the People's Choice Awards where you don't have to actually be in a film to win Favorite Actor or whatever CBS calls it.

All these years and those two are still the best in their categories....well, Tambor might've given Hyde Pierce a run for his money, but Tambor's time will no doubt come, maybe as early as next year if AD becomes the next Emmy darling.
So does this mean that Kristin Davis was the only Sex and the City cast member to never win an Emmy? Shame.
Why does Alison Janney keep winning Emmys?! She's not a lead actress. Stockard Channing isn't a supporting actress, either; she's a once-in-a-while recurring character. Bah.

Typical Emmy results. Late to the party with the Sopranos, waiting until they have no other choice but to give it to them. Trying to make up for being late to the party with the Daily Show the past several years, even though at this point it's been lapped in the coolness factor by Chappelle's Show. Way too early to the party with Arrested Development, like they want to scream that there's good shows that aren't ending or aren't on HBO. Not even showing up for the party with shows like 24 and Monk, which nobody would miss if the shows or actors weren't nominated, yet they are and don't win. And crashing parties with dumb wins like James Spader. Who did he bribe? | OlFuzzyBastard

So how did they all manage to win Emmys last night, especially when such towering symbols of mediocrity as Sex and the City and Friends went off the air this season?
In fact, looking back, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King swept the Oscars and Outkast won big at the Grammys. I don't know if I can handle people winning these big awards on, you know, merit.

The Daily Show won last year - and even though Chappelle's Show may be *cooler*, it's pretty undeniable that TDS is *better*. There's a world of difference there.
I can't figure out how honoring a brilliant, struggling show like Arrested Development could possibly be a bad thing. Do you think they should wait until Fox cancels it to give it an award?
24 and Monk both had lousy, subpar seasons that looked like parodies of themselves more often than not. The brilliantly plotted 24 looked like it was making everything up as it went along this year - and Monk turned into some sort of zany slapstick show.
And James Spader was so good on The Practice that he not only got people talking about a show that most of them thought had been cancelled two seasons back, but earned himself (and Shatner) a spinoff series this fall. | geemoney

I'll agree there. When The Practice got rid of half the cast, I was dreading watching the last season. Spader and Shatner saved it though, and now I can't wait for Boston Legal.
I will say I was surprised by his win though. And don't forget Shatner and Sharon Stone's Emmy's for guest male and female in a drama series, too.

Nothing is "undeniable" or "far and away the best" when you're talking about matters of opinion. You can certainly argue that Chappelle's Show is the funnier show, it's watched by far more people, but only in the past two years have they gotten around to recognizing the Daily Show. They ignored it for so long that by the time it started winning, another show on the same network has passed it. That's what I mean by being late to the party.

I never said it was a bad thing, it's just transparent.

Monk wasn't nominated for the show, just for Tony Shalhoub, who is great regardless of how the show is doing. But they're never going to give him the award over one of the big guns. The same goes for Kiefer Sutherland in terms of performance, but I would think he has more of a chance to win than Shalhoub ever will.

That doesn't mean he was better than Gandolfini or even Kiefer Sutherland.

What was it nominated for? It wasn't up for best drama, and I remember lots of complaints about it and The Shield being overlooked.

Shalhoub won it last year.
I'm disappointed neither Victor Garber or Jennifer Garner won, since the awesome cast is the only reason to watch Alias anymore. The writing just went into the crapper after the first two seasons.
I'm unbelievably happy that The Amazing Race won for the second year in a row. IMHO, it is the best show on TV, scripted or reality. First, even being able to pull off the show is one thing. The logistics of following eleven teams around the world is so difficult, but the producers, editors, cameramen, and sound guys pull it off beautifully. The show is such a perfect combination of drama and humor, and it's such a classy and fun show. It's the only reality show I'd consider going on, and I'd jump at the chance to do it. | Socks

Aslo--I'd like to see The Wire get some Emmy cred now. It's awesome television. So is Dead like Me. The lack of creative constraints on cable networks sure seems to be paying off. HBO in particular seems to be able to lure very talented people who create hit ater hit.

For all the Saprano's love, nobody has mentioned that it really isnt as good as it was. Maybe this season was better? I stopped watching after the last one, it got so boring and uninspired.
NYPD Blue was great last year, but, since it isnt the edgy show anymore, people overlook its power and writing. I thought it was so good last season, especially with Zack showing that he could act with the big boys of Network Drama.
And, Arrested Developement is the best show on TV. It should be renewed for about ten seasons. But, thats just my opinion! | geemoney
