In my opinion Edwards comes off looking pretty foolish HERE (news.yahoo.com).

Cheney points to what is probably the most successful example of Internet commerce (eBay), then Edwards compares eBay to "bake sales" & "lemonade stands" followed by an accusation of the Republicans being "out of touch"???

I think Senator Edwards needs to Google "eBay"...

Edwards better get all of this out while he can. He's the only person out of the four on the ticket who hasn't really been put through the ringer yet.

And considering his former profession and his "popularity" among his own constituency in NC... you KNOW it's coming.

IMO, it's fair to say that most all politicians on that level are out of touch. And in many ways it's not their fault. In order to perform at that level, much of what passes for our everyday lives fades into the background and is taken care of for them.

The republicans actually seem more in touch than the Dems right now. In this society of reality TV, Jackass (and its offspring), American Idol, they have figured out America loves idiots.

Bubba was a smooth talking southern womanizer, and America loved him. Americans could identify with him.

Bush is the former drunk, who can't pronounce big words or understand complicated concepts, Americans can identify with him.

Kerry is the guy who would have been one of the first voted off the Island.

I may disagree with Bush and his administration's policies, but I can see why the Dems are having such a hard sell with Kerry.

Everyone knows where my sympathies lie, but IMO Edwards is just being politically shrewd here. Telling people that the economy is OK due to the success of eBay, even if true, is not going to win you any political support. It was a weird statement by Cheney.
