I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but found this posted elsewhere. Not sure if I totally believe it, but it did raise some questions.

http://www.nixtro.com/pentagon121.swf

and
www.coasttocoastam.com/shows/2004/08/18.html

I do remember at the time wondering why we never saw the plane or any big chunks of it in any of the news video footage of the Pentagon. You would think in a city like Washington D.C. there would be security cameras everywhere or at least a tourist video....
Maybe it was a missle. If so, where did the hijacked plane end up? Over the ocean somewhere?
I've always just accepted that it was the hijacked plane, but the size of the holes in the building and the size of an American Airlines 757 really don't seem to match.
There is also a book on Amazon by a french author called "Pentagate" that deals with the many inconsistencies.
What would Michael Moore say?

There's a link to the Snopes page that calls this a hoax.

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/hunthoax.html

And there's a guy who believes in an alternate conspiracy theory. The plane hit, yes, but the government wants you to believe ti didn't.

I'm not on board with the "it wasn't a plane, it was a missile" philosophy. One that holds a little more weight with me can be outlined here (bushflash.com).

Summary: Government played a part in 9/11.

EDIT: I'm not saying I necessarily believe this one, but that it it more believable than most.

So wait you actually believe that Bush or someone in the government wanted thousands of American citizens to die? Do people think before they just throw up some conspiracy theory's? That bush flash website looked like a propaganda piece and it didn't provide any facts and the only thing i got from his yelling was "buddy buddy". Sure the government played a part in 9/11 it was there fault for failing to protect us but in no way shape or form were they in on it.

That is a valid point, but the Pentagon is in Arlington, VA, not Washington, DC.

For sure some people in the government knew that 9/11 was going down. There's just mountains of little coincidences, that when taken together begin to form a much clearer picture of what was known and when. Here are just the ones that I remember off the top off my head, all reported to some extent in mainstream media outlets both here in Canada and in the US;

-the mayor of San Fran was told on 9/10 to cancel his travel plans to NY for the next day.

-despite the first plane hitting the tower, the air force failed to scramble fighters until well after the second plane hit in NY, despite their having plenty of time to do so.

-the little known tale of a CIA informant who was picked up and jailed in Canada about a week before 9/11 for fraud (truth stranger than fiction eh?) and who attempted to buy his release with "top secret info" that just happened to take the form of a napkin inscribed with the words "Osama Bin Laden" "world trade centre" and "pentagon" among others.

-the lawsuit filed by FBI agents who were told to look the other way when it came to investigating Al Qaeda in the summer of 2001 (the Minnesota office of the FBI, I believe).

Those are just a few. It's painfully clear that SOMEONE knew SOMETHING before the planes hit. Now I'm not saying that the Bush administration either played a part in it/allowed it to happen, neither am I saying that they were as surprised as we were on the morning of the 11th. The truth is likely to lie somewhere in the middle.

I think you have to be very careful here. I'm FOR SURE not one to defend the Bush administration - and there were obviously major lapses in communication - but to say they KNEW with out any concrete evidence just isn't a wise move.

We've seen enough screw ups in terms of our military intelligence over the last decade that it's completely reasonable to believe that incompetence allowed it to happen...

Did the intelligence community have a vague idea that something was going to happen? Probably. Did the select few of government employees who bothered to read the reports suspect something? Probably. But to say the government (or anybody other than Al Queda) knew for sure is crazytalk.

This is no different from the "coincidences" that happen every time there's an attack of any magnitude. From Pearl Harbor to Oklahoma City to 9/11 there are bookfuls of information to drive conspiracy buffs to the point of orgasm.

Do I believe that a political leader like George Bush would be willing to either overlook or cause the deaths of thousands of Americans for long-term political gain? Yes, I'm afraid I do. After all, I think we just passed the 4 digit mark of people killed in Iraq for the same reasons.

Do I think that the Democrats would be just as callous. Yes, I'm afraid I do. Just because I vote for them doesn't mean I think they're good people.

Do I think Bush caused 9/11 to happen? No. I don't think a conspiracy like that could hide this long.

Do I think Bush was more than happy to ignore people who might have warned him to be more vigilant? Sure. After all, who wants to worry people for no good reason?

Do I think Bush and his people have leapt on 9/11 as a way to get through all sorts of unrelated things they've been dreaming about for many years? Most certainly.

Are you having a bad day or something? Your "contributions" today seem to resemble the major league kookouts that got us to ban your account the *last* three times. Maybe you should lay low for a while.

Just stating my opinion. The "for sure" part was also my opinion. If you disagree I welcome you saying so.

Sure Malarky because the Mayor of San Fransisco is such a staunch Republican supporter isn't he?
Conspiracy theories are popular because it let's people think that the govt. knows EVERYTHING but chooses to let some bad things happen for some unknown reason.
But the truth is far scarier. Every single member of the govt. elected or not are just people. They make bad decisions because they are tired, or pissed off, or whatever. They let their wishes lead them into bad decisions and overlook facts. Two major pieces of information can be available and are never put together. People bluntly fuck up sometimes. It's not a conspiracy just a mistake.

Woah, a voice of reason in this "hyperbole thread." I'm amazed. Come on Dahak, tell us that Cheney is really Satan. Or perhaps that Kerry would sell the US over to France if he was elected.

Nah... if Kerry opened negotiations to sell the U.S. to France, the French would promptly surrender.

-lmao-

My favourite one is this; "Why do Italian tanks have 15 gears? One is for going forward, the other 14 are for reversing."
