A little surprised that a thread hasn't popped up about this yet. The show felt really disjointed without a host. But hey, the Rev. Al Sharpton ruled it!

Other than that and an awesome closing performance by Outkast it was a pretty color by numbers award show.

Thankfully this was the first year in a long while I didn't have to watch it...so I watched the Olympic closing ceremonies instead. Those Greeks sure can party. Whoa.

Pretty much outside of Outkast, the only other good performance was Alicia Keys, and her encore with Stevie Wonder & Lenny Kravitz.

Every year I think the MTV Awards can't be any more boring and pointless than the previous year. And every year I am proved wrong.

It was nice to see a concious effort to making voting seem cool. I wish they could've dropped the fake bipartisan stuff and flat-out explained to people why they need to vote for John Kerry, but whatever.

That's the first time in a LOOOOONG time that I've seen the words "good" and "Lenny Kravitz" mentioned in the same sentence.

The VMA's are kinda like RAW to me. Back in the day, it really used to be an "ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN HERE" type of show. I never ever cared about who won what, I was all about watching cool performances, checking out the wacky outfits, and waiting for someone to do or say something crazy.

Not so much of any of that anymore for either show really.

Well, since they can't flash Janet's boob they are pretty much out of ideas.
