WWE News: Edge injured - Eyewitness details and post-show observations By Wade Keller, Torch editor Aug 29, 2004, 12:17 pm
PWTorch.com reader Laura Gifford observed Edge get hurt last night and also saw him at a local restaurant after the show...
We just returned from watching the Raw house show tonight in Salt Lake City. I just wanted to let you know that Edge was hurt pretty bad tonight.
We don't know exactly how, as we were in the 2nd row on the other side of the ring, but Y2J tossed him out of the ring and it looked and sounded like he landed badly. He didn't get up and this happened at the beginning of the match.
Jericho walked over to the side of the ring he tossed Edge out of and then walked back to the opposite side and leaned on the ropes waiting. After a few minutes, the announcer said the match was over and medics, security and backstage personnel came flying out. It took them a few minutes to get Edge up, but they did walk him out. He was not able to walk on his own, he was leaning on two guys who were taking on most of his weight.
After the show, we went to Applebees. La Resistance was there when we got there and after a few minutes, several of the others came in as well, including Randy Orton, Rhino, Coach, Jericho and Maven. Christian and Edge then showed up. Christian was practically carrying Edge into the establishment, got him into a chair and it took several minutes for Edge to get himself settled in his seat.... he was in VERY OBVIOUS pain.
When I went over to say hello and congratulate on a great show, Edge was in so much pain, he couldn't even look up. Coach was sitting with Edge and Christian and I asked him if Edge was going to be ok, he said "we really hope so, it's not looking good right now."
Several other fans approached Edge, he couldn't even pick his head up to talk to anyone. He should have been in bed with ice and pain meds, or at the hospital, in my opinion. After a few minutes, Christian asked the fans to please leave him alone.
The show was great tonight, but I haven't seen anything on your sight about this so wasn't sure if you knew yet. I hope you can find out and report on his injury. | Promote this thread! | | chill

I realize this behaviour (feeling the need to go up and talk to wrestlers when they're eating) is definitive of the word "fan" itself, but please. Unless you're a doctor, don't bother the guy minutes after he's gotten hurt, because I'm sure nobody in that position is in the mood for positive comments from fans who can't possibly help out. I mean regardless if the guy's in pain, the match lasted all of two minutes when it had to be ended prematurely after he took a bad bump. I'm sure even if he wasn't in horrific pain the last thing he would want to hear is someone saying "great show, Edge! You really injured yourself like a champ."
In all seriousness though, you have to feel sorry for the guy. This could not have happened at a worse time, especially considering the build they've had for him. | A Fan

I figure he will be out for at least a week or two, becuase if he was legit hurt real bad, Vince would have shipped into the hospital for the night. This sucks, because I like the Edge/Jericho fued and I was looking forward to him joining Evolution or bringing back E&C. | redsoxnation

IF this injury is more than a few days, perhaps they use it as a method of reintroducing Christian by having Edge proxy the title to him. There is the Regal precedent for that. | OMEGA

I've always thought that Christian had the main-event charisma. However, his short height might be a detriment in the eyes of Vince. | Kaylot

Edge: Boy, I really fooled those marks at the show with that "accident," didn't I?
Christian: Oh, crap, there's a bunch of fans inside wearing WWE t-shirts.
Edge: Ooh, man. Is there anywhere else to eat around here?
Christian: Eh. Just lean on me and act like you're injured. Once you have a few drinks in you it won't make a difference.
Edge: Naw, man, isn't there somewhere else can we --
Christian: I'm buying.
Edge: Cool. | Freeway

I agree, If ANYONE was as hurt as Edge seemed to be, there is no way they would be at a restaraunt with the boys. The story doesnt even say if Edge is eating. So they drag him to a restaraunt so he can lay on a table and sleep? | darkmatcher

He was just finally getting into the swing of things(hometown bullshit not withstanding) after his last injury. Man this has been a rough year for the guy, he seems so kind and down-to earth for all these bordering-on-karma like circumstances to be happening to him. I can't agree that Christian will ever be a serious main-eventer..he just doesn't seem to have "it". But Edge's chances aren't looking good either. Pretty sad that we're not likely going to end up with a single star out of the two best tag teams of the late 90s.

| #15 Posted on 29.8.04 2029.42 Reposted on: 29.8.11 2031.08 | Well, Meltzer's also noted the Edge injury -- although, it should be said, without details as to what the injury might be or how serious it is (although he writes that Edge was apparently scared that it might be really bad). Guy never seems to have any luck, does he?
In the absence of further updates, the only thing to do is wait for Raw and see whether Edge wrestles, or whether he just does a 30-second job to Batista, Jericho, or whoever. | PerthHeat

| #16 Posted on 29.8.04 2135.19 Reposted on: 29.8.11 2137.12 | On first reading my initial opinion was if hes that badly hurt why show your face? Then reading the replies a few thoughts struck me.
The IWC is like any news organisation and to claim ''you read it here first'' is fraught with the same dangers as anywhere else. Then others jump on the bandwagons and rumours become facts.
I also took a comment and ran with it in my mind Originally posted by Shem ''In the absence of further updates, the only thing to do is wait for Raw and see whether Edge wrestles'' .. I bet everyone will make the effort now to see if Edge does show up and if I was booking the show I would leave it to the end or second last match with teasers thrown in.
How did people make the leap from Edge been injured and Christian taking the title? What about Batistas push? what about Jericho? I know Christian has been injured and that wont stop a push but apart from been a heel how does he qualify?
Yes it does seem iffy but I wont be surprised or dissapointed if I have been scammed by the WWE.... it would make a change as you can usually see a swerve coming a mile away
