With all the "W" and Kerry bashing going on, I felt it necessary to point out one thing.

The beauty of our constitution and system is that no matter what happens, we survive and in the end get it right. The country has survived and thrived in spite of some very bad presidents and congresses. It's great we all have this forum to thrash about in, but at the end of the day, no matter who is elected, we will survive. We as a people are incredibly resilient and caring (on both sides).

Let the bashing continue.

Ah, shaddap, Doc. Yer makin' me tear up.

You're right, though. We've survived (alledgedly) dumb presidents before (I cite Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan) and Crooked presidents (I cite Warren Harding and Richard Mixon), sex-crazed presidents (ok, do I have to cite anything?) and guys who were war heros (like Grant and Ike and Washington) and guys who were in the war, that's for sure.

and after november, whoever wins will be the president of all of us who are Citizens of the USA, no matter what any one group thinks. And the checks and balances still work.

Now can I call somebody a liberal, fer god's sake? I was nice. I mean a real liberal, not a classic liberal like you. (we call 'em "conservatives" at my house).

There - see, I can bash.

Not a good sign when the (allegedly) dumb Presidents come back-to-back and a Civil War breaks out at the end of the second one. But, Buchanan can be slightly excused, due to the fact that he was only nominated because he had been out of the country for the few years prior to his nomination/election. Also, it can't be much of a coincidence that you get these two leaders when the Whig Party collapses virtually overnight.
