I'm desperately trying to figure out what is wrong with either of their records. Nothing illegal was done, and Cheney at least has not lied about it.
And Cheney AT LEAST has not lied about it? What are you implying? Who has lied? The Swift Boat ads are a proven sham. None of the men in those ads actually served on the same boat with Kerry, and many of them have been directly linked with officials in Bush's campaign...it's like a soft-money version of the Kevin Bacon game. Who's doing the lying here?
Perhaps Cheney did nothing illegal in the military, but as the head of Hailburton he executed contracts in Iraq with expropriated oil money, and executed contracts in Iran with offshore financing. Kinda makes travelgate look like a citation for spitting on the sidewalk (which, of course, turned out to be nothing). Who could trust the guy, really? | Grimis

Actually, I was referencing Bush claiming he was Air Force back in '78/

I think all of these issues have been addressed multiple times before.

"Indeed. Halliburton, under Cheney, once did a paltry $23 million in backdoor business with Hussein; now, cutting out the middleman (and more than 10,000 innocent lives, as well), the company has $18 billion in Iraqi war contracts, thanks to its White House rainmakers. And no doubt that $3 billion unmetered skim will be bankrolling some fancy Houston mansions and choice Texas scrub brush in the years to come." see the rest here: http://www.independent-media.tv/item.cfm?fmedia_id=8072&fcategory_desc=Bush%20Administration%20Lies%20and%20Deceit
"This would be the first evidence that Halliburton was actively seeking business in Iran under Cheney in possible violation of U.S. laws" -- Dan Katz, chief counsel Sen. Frank Lautenberg, NJ

There's much, much, much more information out there if you care to look for it, but this seems like a good start.

Are you really citing sources like Frank Lautenberg's Chief Counsel, & a website that's describes itself as "Bush Administration Lies & Deceit" as your proof???
If you want to make your point, you might want to find some more credible sources...

Those sources aren't exactly an object lesson in impartiality. A couple of minutes on google however, threw up stories and information from a plethora of sources (including the BBC, the Wall St. Journal and the Defence Contract Auditing Agency) regarding investigations into contracts worth vast sums of money for work in Iraq which have not been properly accounted for, as well as investigations into another Halliburton subsidiarys dealings with Iran.
I'm not sure how much I buy into the theory that Cheney himself was involved in any shady goings on, but I'm sure the Republicans would also be having a rare old time with this if the positions were reversed. | The Goon
