You have to think he's trying to prove that 2000 wasn't a fluke, and that there'll be 1 or 500 mentions of the thing with his toe, since if an competing athlete has a hangnail NBC runs with it as a human interest story.

I still can't believe he beat Karelin four years ago. That's easily the biggest sports upset of the past decade, if not longer. | Phantom Lord

I wonder if he would consider going pro like Angle. Kurt said a couple of years ago that if the business wants to evolve they need more olympic wrestlers to turn pro because as it is the only guys who can really stay with him are Eddie and Benoit.

But since his amateur career might be over, I'm curious as to whether Gardner would wish to join WWE now. I hope so. | dMp

Why is it special to wrestle without a middle toe? I tried my best to figure how that puts him at a disadvantage but I couldn't find anything..

Uh, YEAH it doesn't! I hadn't really watched Greco-Roman before. Even amateur freestyle wrestling has WAY less, uh, grappling (?) than Greco-Roman.
If every week on Raw A-Train and the Big Show had a legit Greco-Roman match, YOU wouldn't want to watch it either. :) | sentonBOMB

| #13 Posted on 26.8.04 1333.23 Reposted on: 26.8.11 1334.54 | I'm a huge wrestling fan, growing up in a wrestling family, and Greco-Roman wrestling is just plain boring. The whole "no legs" thing really messes stuff up, in terms of excitement for me. The whole point is to pummel until you get an inside advantage, and then toss.
Now, the freestyle coming up is going to be super exciting. It's a shame the coverage sucks so much that I'll only get to see U.S. wrestlers, and only then if they're up for medals. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
