Here's an exceprt from a day in my life:

I visit 1wrestling.com's Newsline(forget the main page and the Lariat and all the other CRAP that takes 30 clicks to get to), which, as hard as it is for me to say, is pretty good with breaking news and all that.

SO, as the page loads, so do 4-5 pop-ups and pop-unders. We all know how everyone in the world feels about this so no use in getting into it again. I close them all and wait for the page to load. It finally loads. All the banners and ads and graphics are there, all surrounding a blank white box.

Geez, so I hit reload. Nothing. Refresh again. Ah, there it finally is. Ok so I open a story(in a new window, mind you, no way I'm loading all that again), same thing. Empty white box, banners, graphic, pop-ups, the works. Refresh. Nothing. Refresh. Nothing. Refresh. NOTHING! I refreshed this page 6 times to only get a blank white box.

So what's up with this? Is anyone else having these problems? Is this just a way for 1wrestling to get more money? Hey, I'm more than happy to let their ads pop up all over the place as long as I get the content that I go there for!

I had that problem yesterday . I normally don't visit that site , but I was trying to track down a news item that was quoted on another site .

Man I don't know how you did it , refreshed it six times , you must be a glutton for punishment . The first blank page I got , I said the hell with it . As a matter of fact , that is the LAST visit I make to *suck*1wrestling.com .

I was pissed off enough to become determined to load the page. The content didn't even matter to me anymore, I just wanted to see words.

I've had that happen on occasion. At least for me, the content was there, but it was waaaaay down on the bottom left hand side of the page, half on the border, half not. To be able to read it I had to highlight the text. Just scroll down, and it might be there. Probably more trouble than it's worth, though.

this makes wrestling news so much easier to find and less Ryder-oriented:

Edit: You're right, the pages are just extended. Funny i didn't notice that, but I'll just keep it to myself from here on out...

Oh yeah I'm not defending their website by any means. But I do visit there sometimes just to see what news is breaking. Seems like Bob and Dave will put their necks on the line a lot more than Wade or Dave will(which is not always a good thing, I know).

As far as the pop-up washer thing or whatever, I'm sort of against it. I don't know how configurable it is, so I don't want some content that I want to load, not to load. I'd rather see things how they really are without a third party "washing" my screen.

And yes, I visit a1wrestling more often than 1wrestling. If only 1wrestling stuff was still on there...

I still check out 1Bob, but my patience is running out.

Apparently the top story in the wrestlng world today is that 1Wrestling.com has a premium site with all sorts great stuff. Heck, six of their top ten stories are all about it.

And no other wrestling site is covering this amazing story. What a scoop!

My anonymous sources tell me that they're trying desperately to get people to sign up for year-long memberships so that they can take the money and then shut down the site, without giving refunds. Reportedly, they're on the verge of going under big time and it's only a matter of time. The morale in the writer's locker room is the lowest it's been in years. I could call them for a commment, but since I don't think they'd give me one, I won't bother.

I took Rudy's advice and just set up a second browser specifically to view 1wrestling. I installed the latest Netscape, turned off all the java and cookie acceptance, and I get ZERO pop-ups.

This works great for me because I use Macs, and I haven't seen too many WebWasher type software out there available for Mac OS.

I don't use Netscape for general surfing. Like you, I want to see everything that's supposed to load. But I know what pops up at 1wrestling, and I really don't care what most of the people I went to high school with are doing now. And if I ever see that damn purple monkey again, I'm going to scratch my eyeballs out.

Here here. To be honest I really like Dave Scherer. He seems like a stand up guy and always honest with his readers. So i go there for him and him alone. I hate to give up 1wrestling and the Lariat.

But What is there other than Dave now anyway? Tommy Fierro? Wow I can book a made for TV movie about Vinnie Mac myself thanks. Bob Ryder? No I'm already fat so I can sit at computer and bitch about ECW oweing me money on my own thanks.

At the risk of getting flamed, I will agree. I think Scherer is an honest fan of wrestling, and I, too, only go to 1Wrestling because of him. I don't agree with everything he says, but he seems to work in good faith and give his honest opinion of things.

I still go there pretty often, but Bob and Dave get on my nerves. I'm not sure why they're take the WWF's "Open Letter to Wrestling Websites and Newsletters" so personally, or why they keep refering to it as a "media ban".

Yes, that site is lame. I got the evil popup ad of suck from them (the one that looks like a windows toolbar thingy) and sent them a nice polite email about how annoying the shit out of the non-subscribers is not a good way to get people to subscribe, and they said that if people want to support the site, they should subscribe.

Now, I use mozilla, it's rad, and have unrequested popups turned off. I can visit the site in peace.

If only it could alwsio do something to improve the content of the site... Maybe I could find a way to make it put in a random pr0n pic whenever they say "WWF's Media BAN!!!" or something.
