The first "gourmet" things I ever made came out of her books, because of her shows. And I still rely on her recipes & techniques all the time. (D'ya suppose there'll be any good food at the wake? :-) ) *teardrop*

So she gave us Good Eats, Emeril, Mario and Ming, Iron Chef (yea!) and Bobby Flay (bastard!). Wasn't she the first PBS celebrity?

I'll always remember the turkey incident when it dropped on the floor and she shrugged it off. That's what I loved about her.

My vision is Dan Akroyd doing his imitation on SNL when he had the spurting blood bit.

"Save the liver!" Child loved the parody and spoke fondly of it. It's always a shame to lose someone who knows better than to take themselves too seriously.

I'm a whole-grain type for everyday, but for special occasions, I still pull out "Mastering The Art of French Cooking" and go to town. To hell with vegan diets and fake low-fat, sugarless nonfoods; live to eat well! MM
