For those of you who don't like pop ups:
Hardy responds to 411 column posted today....
On his official website today, Matt Hardy wrote a reply to a 411 column posted today by Asteroid Boy (Wrestling Noir: Matt Hardy V2.0 - 'Til The Mid-Card Do Us Part). The column obviously struck a nerve with Hardy. Below is his reply:
"Matt Hardy: Itís 3:00 a.m. on August 12, and I was just getting ready to send my commentary to my friends at WWE.com. Before doing so, I decided to scan the Net and check the headlines, and I came across something quite absurd. After reading this, I just had to use this as an example of the "wrestling negativity snowball" that Iíve been speaking about. I encountered a ridiculous article that some kid wrote that made an analogy comparing Amy (Lita) to credit and debit cards. This person went on to talk about how my careerís screwed because Iíve reunited with Lita and because of my recent storyline. The most asinine part of the article is how it criticizes the reality of Amy and I being put together on the same schedule, not just on TV. He then rambles on about how Iíve made a career-destructive decision and how Amy is deteriorating. He then states that one of the Diva Search contestants is going to take Litaís place. He also quotes a sign from a fan to back up his claim that Litaís days are numbered in WWE. This was too much. At this point, I had to wake up Amy up to read this laughable nonsense. To begin with, anyone who doesnít personally know Matt Hardy or Amy Dumas canít accurately comment on our personal lives. You can comment on the characters of Matt and Lita that you see on TV because youíre familiar with them. But the only information you have is your opinion of what you see on screen and what you read or hear about. People have no idea about what goes on and our status behind the curtain. Is Matt Hardyís career suffering? Absolutely not. Right now, I am in the best spot I have ever been in as a singles competitor. I loved the stuff I did on SmackDown! It was great and good for my career. Although it took me a while to get where I wanted to be on RAW, I am currently in a better position now. If I didnít have to get some work done on my knee, my snowball would keep rolling and getting bigger. Whether you love the Matt-Lita-Kane saga or think itís rotten, you donít understand the business if you donít realize itís a huge, high-profile part of the RAW show. Itís these types of negative, nonsensical articles that set bad examples for other fans and give the IWC a bad rep.
But, if you happen to disagree with my comments and doubt my views, just remember this: Growing up, people said I would never be able to wrestle in WWE. I did. People said I would never become a legit WWE Superstar if my brother and I kept losing on TV early in our careers. I did. Most people thought Iíd never be able to survive as a singles star without my brother. I did. When I had my run as Cruiserweight champ, a majority of people thought Iíd never break the cruiserweight stigma. I did. People thought I would never get out of my "slump" on RAW. I did. Nobody thought I would beat Kane at Vengeance. I did. If you donít think Iíll come back from my injury better than ever and become one of the biggest stars in all of WWE, please, bet against me. Matt Hardy loves to prove people wrong and make them eat their words. You can quote that ó because I mean what I say, and I say what I mean."
The knee injury and when he comes back, sounds like Matt is going to lose this Sunday!

Well, even though I think Matt's current angle with Kane is stupid, I'm still rooting for Matt to prove everybody wrong and become a major singles star in WWE. In fact, with plenty of buildup for a couple of years, I wouldn't mind seeing him as the World Heavyweight Champion, eventually.

I think it's a somewhat crappy column..;) (sorry Asteroid Boy) I dunno if Matt's crappy feuds have had all that much to do with Lita. I don't think it's 100% his choice..
Also I actually think she looks better than before her necksurgery.
But that doesn't mean I agree with Matt either.
Yes, it is a very high profile feud. Just the thing he would need. But alas the focus is not on him. Basically no matter what happens he doesn't come out looking good.
1-Lita turns, Matt is left outside.
2-Kane wins, Matt is left outside.
3-Matt wins, is left with someone else's baby
Perhaps more important, people will remember him (For a while, we all know how short term memory there is in wrestling) as the guy whose gf was fucked by Kane to protect him. Not as the winner of a long high profile feud.
Also, the bad execution of the feud, the lameness really eats away at that high profile. I believe an 'out of the ring drama' like this is best compared to the Jericho-Christian-Trish feud which lasted about 8 months as well.
It gave us some great matches and several interesting twists and turns. Jericho slowly becoming face, Christian seemingly becoming face but then turning back to heel and eventually Trish's successful turn from the girl to root for to evil bitch.
In the Lita triangle we have had erhm..Kane squash, Matt fight back, Lita acting irrationally (totally against her Xtreme cool grlll persona until then) lame promos lame stips and lame booking have made this a laughable high profile feud instead of something that we all look forward to. The matches (for instance the one at Vengeance) didnt give what they COULD have given..seemed rather run of the mill almost without much emotion or intensity.
One final thing. I do believe Matt tries too hard to defend Lita. He did it last time too, coming up with things like 'she sells a lot of merchandise' True. She does.
That doesn't mean she shouldn't try her hardest to be the best wrestler, entertainer and performer she can be. Matt tries it all the time he says. Yet Lita -while once innovative in the rng- hasn't changed all that much over her entire WWE career. I know changing the gimmick isn't something she has all that much say over (WWE makes money off of the gimmick so they probably don't want it changed) but she should at least try to be up to par with what the current female wrestlers do in the ring. Same for her promo skills and her overal performance. There must be some things she can tweak to be a better performer?
I wish Hardy all luck in this world this sunday and indeed hope he proves us wrong and make us eat words.
But if the feud takes the turn we expect it to take they might have to work hard..very hard to make him the star he deservers to be in the years to come.

I read both columns and didn't think Asteroid Boy was saying anything out of the ordinary or anything overly-critical of Matt that he hasn't seen or addressed before. I just don't think Matt 'got' the debit/credit card analogy and that's what pissed him off. Otherwise, this just reeks of a post-PPV breakdown, not dissimilar to JBL's before Judgment Day. I mean, he even went and gave us a paragraph on how he has proved people wrong all of his life! It's sad but at the same time pretty funny.

Woah, an actual WWE wrestler mentioned a column by someone who posts here occassionally. I remember Asteroid Boy when he was just Asteroid Fetus. He's come a long way, my friends.
Oh, and if nothing else, this gives A.B. a topic for his second ever 411 column. So, congrats.
