Yo W's--

I apologize if this is in the wrong Forum, but you don't get much more random than computer problems (seeing as they are a out of nowhere problem...yea.).

To make a long story short, I think I have been a victim of the dkdialer.exe and dial32.exe viruses/trojans. They pretty much just popped onto my computer because I didn't download anything new or open any emails. They have pretty much messed up my computer and I have no clue how to get rid of them or fix the system.

The viruses were freezing up my computer and setting my internet homepage to some random search IP address (http://213.117.374.500) or something like that. After I deleted the virus programs the computer was still screwed and then in my stupidity, I accidently sent my system.ini file to the recycle bin BUT I DID NOT DELETE IT. When I went to go and restore it, the computer crashed again and now the computer won't even load up the main desktop screen.

I couldn't get into MS-DOS mode and I do not have an original boot disk to fix the system. I run a Win98 program that was already loaded on the computer and I am unsure of the RAM.

If anyone can help me out here as to how I can fix it, what I am going to lose, or any information at all on how I can get things back to normal. It'd be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Burger

You've got many problems- probably more than someone can give advice for on a message board.

CompUSA charges a fee to fix computers - you should get an estimate there. Then find a guy at work and offer him half of that if you feel lucky. You might only have to pay 1/2 to get it fixed, or you could end up paying 1.5x as much.

Good Luck
