Fair enough. However, the truth is that dividend tax breaks also affect the middle-class. Think about the people who own stocks and 401k's who got a tax break based on dividens gained from their holdings.

Not only that, but dividend (and capital gain) tax breaks reduce the cost of investment and increase the reward for entrepreneurial activity. Increases in these types of activies are what fuel our economy and lead to real, long-term economic growth and job creation.

If you want to argue against Bush's tax cuts, then it is certainly possible to make a cogent and economically sound argument against them. However, attacking them as a kickback and only good for the rich and incorporated is not a compelling way to do it.

EDIT: One last thing...the 'rich' who pay over 90% of the taxes received 50% of the tax cut. That sounds pretty progressive to me.

Man, I can't believe I am expending this much effort (wasting this much time?) explaining the logic behind something I oppose.

I can't find a link to a transcript, but Human Events has quote from a Kerry Advisor on Fox and Friends that the whole Cambodian thing was made up:

JEH JOHNSON(Kerry Advisor): John Kerry has said on the record that he had a mistaken recollection earlier. He talked about a combat situation on Christmas Eve 1968 which at one point he said occurred in Cambodia. He has since corrected the recorded to say it was some place on a river near Cambodia and he is certain that at some point subsequent to that he was in Cambodia. My understanding is that he is not certain about that date.

BRIAN KILMEADE(FOX): I think the term was he had a searing memory of spending Christmas - back in 1986 in the senate floor in Cambodia.

JOHNSON: I believe he has corrected the record to say it was some place near Cambodia he is not certain whether it was in Cambodia but he is certain
