Not farfetched at all. After all, this very same week, the WWF sent out that "don't believe everything you read" letter. | rockdotcom_2.0

Hmmmm, I dont know Shane. Either way, itll make a good twist on what side he will choose. I just hope they dont spend 10 minutes on every pick like they are now with the Rock...
edit: I take that back... can anyone doubt the Rocks mic skills? how many wrestlers wish they could get a catch phrase over that fast?

And I have no doubt that 1Wrestling will be making major mileage off of this.
But, really - in a day and age when even Hogan seems to be willing to follow the game plan - HOGAN - what exactly does Austin think he will be able to achieve?

If the WWF though is trying to "work the smarts" by keeping one of their biggest stars off tv for no reason, having to invent ridiculous angles and patch holes in the plot very hastily, and generally make the paying public unhappy, then they've taken the worst ideas of Russo booking and grafted them into the topcard. | Notorious F.A.B.

edit: shit, i forgot to say what i wanted to say. raw was entertaining enough without austin. i'd be surprised if people walked away angry because of that.

Wow, I'm getting a heavy Anti-Austin vibe from the net lately. Hell, right now I'm sitting at home and crying about how the WWF is going right now. I don't know if or what he's protesting, but hopefully it has to do with the horrid writing we've been seeing lately. | WhoBettahThanDeion

| #14 Posted on 26.3.02 0104.03 Reposted on: 26.3.09 0106.13 | I can't really bitch about them spending ten minutes on the Rock. He was picked first. He did do some quality mic work. I'm glad they spent ten minutes on the Rock. But, personally Angle stole all with his convincing Vince things all night long. Plus we all must remember that there's still one more open show with everybody on it (Smackdown) where trades could possibly happen and titles be switched (IC or Euro). As for the Austin stuff, I got no beef with the guy, I can't complain about him bitchign because I don't really know what goes on in the back. As for him returning, I gotta' think he's coming back on Flair's side (the definite weaker side if there is one) and that I can't wait for Stone Cold's return. Here's to the best heel of last year. DON'T TEASE ME LIKE THAT!!!
Anyway, for BigDaddyLoco's question as for why Austin's getting so much heat... it's cause the net crowd believes everything they read, and if what the dirtsheets are saying about Austin is true then he deserves all the heat he gets. That said, I tbink this is just another example of the uncontrolled rumors that the WWF was complaining about in that "open letter," the so-called-smarks are jumping to conclusions (again,) and everybody's going to have egg on their faces when it turns out that the dirtsheets were wrong. | Super Shane Spear

I think it's just he fact that not too many people like their own jobs. I know I don't, but I don't have the option to sit at home until I feel better about the company. I'm sorry if Austin "lost his smile," but when you've ripped of three (and counting) arenas full of fans with WHAT t-shirts and foam things, I tend to get upset. | WhoBettahThanDeion

"Ripped off"? I'm shooting that's what you were going for? I don't personally own a "WHAT?" t-shirt or foam finger. But, I personally don't feel that those fans were "ripped off" by any stretch of the imagination. Austin'll be back. It's not profitable enough to stay away. And Austin's merchandise is...Well, hot, hot, hot. Now, sure, merchandise sales shouldn't be the reason to come back, but money is the driving force behind a lot of our decisions in life. And I'm going to say that when you buy your t-shirt's etc. at live events, that usually you DO get your money's worth. I buy mine for the experience of having a show shirt. It's a little peice of memorobelia for that event. I remember the events I've visited by looking that the shirts I own. There's my WCW shirt from Invasion, my Thou Shalt Not shirt from RAW, the list goes on and on. What I'm saying is, thing's change at the drop of a hat and saying he's "ripping off" the fans that bought his merchandise is...Well, dumb logic to me. He's a professional wrestler and like any athlete of his caliber (Kobe, Shaq or Jordan) he has the option of sitting out. You don't have to like it, but you can't fault the guy based on rumor. "I'm damning you because this person heard third hand at an after party after the show that..." And yes, I tend to believe a lot of the shit I read, too. I'm a fool. I'll admit it. "Man, Nash got heat with Rock for calling him a bitch?! That sucks!" Blah, blah, blah. We have no idea what really goes on backstage anyways. So why not focus on the product on our tv screens (such as "Was Nash geniuinely pissed when Rock called him a bitch?"). Oh, and that's like me being pissed off for buying a "Jericohol" t-shirt the night before he turned heel. It's randumb. | Super Shane Spear

| #18 Posted on 26.3.02 0507.07 Reposted on: 26.3.09 0508.06 | So, to sum it up, say you're a pretty big Austin fan going to RAW or Smackdown after Wrestlemania. You buy a "WHAT" T-Shirt, hat, and maybe a foam sign. THat's nearly fifty dollars right there. Then Austin never shows up. Later that night you find out it's because he decided to stay at home. You're saying you would have NO feelings of ill-will?
Now, if you put the shoe on the OTHER foot, maybe the WWF shouldn't be selling Austin merchandise at all. Do you suppose they mentioned these no-shows to the live crowds? I doubt it. Plus, if the WWF is making an angle out of this, then they are even more to blame.
I've been thinking about this, and if there's one thing to sway me towards it being Austin's fault, it's those "DESIRE" commercials the WWF ran a few months ago. They wouldn't try out an internet lazyness angle so closely after running those clips with Austin, HHH and Undertaker talking about their love for the business.

Weren't there rumors like this right after he was gone for 2 weeks or so when Kurt beat him? And they didnt even mention him not being there on the shows.
If it's a work, which I assume..It only makes sense to have him be gone for a bit. In his absense they can kill the What? hype, he can return with a smashing run-in on either show and have mega heat, etc..
IF it turns out to be that Austin isn't happy.. sucks for him, he might be missing the boat here. then again, maybe he needs some time off, whatever.. we'll see. | Freeway

So, Austin recovered at home for two weeks, then came back. Now, Austin isn't injured, he's just SUPPOSEDLY angry about the whole nWo angle elbowing him out of the main event picture. BOO-HOO. |
