The much needed pitching staff help arrived in the form of questionable pitcher Corey Lidle, but the loss of Pat hurts bigtime. They don't have any minor league bigtime outfielders, and the guys they have riding the bench (Lou Collier, Jason Michaels, etc..) don't exactly inspire me very much.
Two weeks ago I was calling for Bowa to be fired. Now I'd just like a full 9-man team.
Reds fans, what's up with Lidle? Underachiever? Overachiever? Just plain bad? Promote this thread! | | BWT

| #2 Posted on 9.8.04 1725.10 Reposted on: 9.8.11 1725.13 | Ah I had allready given up on the season about 3 weeks ago but still this sucks. I cant explain whats wrong with this team other then the fact that just like 90% of baseball they lack a true #1 starter. Its strange to listen to everyone in Philly calling for Wades job because he didnt make a major move but really who was out there? Benson? Finley? They are not the type of players who I would trade away prospects for. Had I been the GM I would have been a seller at the deadline because next year it will be intresting who ends up staying. Get rid of Bowa get rid of Wade and start from scratch its time for a change. | redsoxnation

| #3 Posted on 9.8.04 2214.12 Reposted on: 9.8.11 2214.36 | The biggest reason for the Phillies being on the verge of getting knocked out of the NL East race: While trailing the Braves by 6 for the division, they trail the Braves by 12 when it comes to match-ups in the NL East. If the Phillies could somehow defeat the Marlins, they'd be nose-to-nose with Atlanta. But, because Capt. Pitch Count Joe Kerrigan doesn't believe in the slide-step, the Marlins are able to run amuck against the Phillies, thus causing the Phillies to be owned by Florida. Of course, given past history, Kerrigan will backstab Bowa while he's on the ropes in order to try to manipulate himself into the manager's position. | Iago

But there is definate truth that they have to learn how to beat the Marlins. | Grimis

And on an unrelated note, big FU to Kansas City for blowing the Angels game, since the Orioles are back in the wild-card race(sorta). | vsp

Well, the Eagles are an exception. Every year, no matter who comes, who goes and who stays on the team, Eagles fans eagerly predict a 14-2 season and a Super Bowl victory. You can set your watch by it.
Flyers fans tend to get excited about winning the division and/or the conference. Some of them know better than to expect anything much beyond that point. | beefncheddar
