Like most people on this board,i haven't watched much wrestling outside of the big American promotions, but things being the way they are, i recently started getting Japanese tapes and was suprised to find not only great matches, but some good storylines too.
Here are some from the Joshi Addiction compilation tape
which i'd like to see in the WWF.
I am a novice here, but if i misinterpreted anything i don't think it matters.
basically these involve two women kicking the shit out of each other, with the second one fought under some sort of shootstyle rules.
For the WWF to do this would require building up Tajiri,
hiring and building up LO KI and then keeping them apart for a few months to buid anticapation for their showdown.
So it probably won't happen, but it'd be cool if it did.
Dump Matsumoto °VS° Chigusa Nagayo
Dump is an awesome heel. from beating up refs and photographers,to demontrating what she'll do to Chigusa by gutting a chicken,to following through with her threat by carving up Chigusas face, she is totally out of control.
Just like Test should be with his immunity.
Yumi Fukawa/Rie Tamada (C) °VS° Chikayo Nagashima/Sugar Sato
just a wild match with all four going at it constantly.
plus a cool moment at the end when Chikayo and Sugar are leaving with the belts and Rie is calling for a rematch or something. Sugar just half turns, flips her off and keeps on walking.
Meiko Satomura/Sonoko Kato °VS° Chikayo Nagashima/Sugar Sato
this is more settled but still very fast paced and doesn't settle into the face in peril formula. it also contains great double teams and counters.
if the fed used it's cruisers for these kind of matches, they could sort out two divisions at once and make the undercard exciting again.
Hikari Fukuoka °VS° Commando Boilshoi
Boilshoi is a comedy wrestler in a mask, Fukuoka is the champ, so it should be a mismatch but Boilshoi rises to the occasion and puts up a great fight, then pulls off her own mask in the ultimate pulling down the strap gesture.
could work well if they ever want to make the Hurricane serious again.
Mayumi Ozaki/Aja Kong °VS° Chikayo Nagashima/Sugar Sato
Chikayo and Sugar are Ozakis students and henchwomen. After a hard fought match Chikayo pins Ozaki. Then everyone relizes the signifigence of this.
Chikayo is all "did i really really just..." and
Ozaki is all " oh i'm so proud" and they all hug.
It sounds corny on paper, but it,s brilliant in practice and might make for a good angle with Maven and Al Snow.
Actually it's pretty scary how well rounded the Japanese characters are compared to some of their American counterparts. They do without feuding over shampoo too.
Mayumi Ozaki/Aja Kong °VS° Meiko Satomura/Sonoko Kato
Aja Kong °VS° Meiko Satomura
I thought the Rock/Hogan match was awesome, but this stuff just blew me away. and for those who are anal about such things it's a really good match technically too.
Basically Aja Kong is the arrogant monster heel veteran and Meiko Satomura is the hot young star who keeps losing to her, until finally scoring a clean pin in a tag match. Aja is really pissed off and challenges her to singles match, even putting the championship on the line. Can Meiko score another upset or is Aja just too strong?
Replace Aja with the Undertaker and Meiko with Rob Van Dam and you could have real good feud.Although not as good as the original of course.

You want some good stuff? Check out Highspot's "Keiji Mutoh: Road to the Triple Crown". It shows Mutoh (The Great Muta w/out facepait & with a bald head and goattee) on his path to the Triple Crown (Japan's unified World title). Great matches, and some good angles, if you can understand enough Japanese to get through the promos. Check out the Hase/Mutoh match especially! Not only are they good friends, but Hase is a member of the Diet (japanese Senate).
