It's too simple. Run the satellite receiver into the VCR however, well, you do that...be it regular coax, RCA composite cables, s-video cables, whatever. Then just set the VCR to whatever channel you need for that specific input. That would be channel three if it's coax, or a special video channel (like "rear video" or "video two") if you use a cable other than standard coax (and I pray to Lauren Graham that you do.) Consult your VCR manual for the proper channel setting for whatever input you use.
Then, just turn your receiver to the channel you want to record (for example, if HBO is 600, then leave it on 600) and set your VCR to record your video channel or channel three or whatever the VCR manual specifies for the input.
I was going to PM, but now I can draw legions of new W's to the site when they Google for this topic. The "Banished" folder has seemed lite to me lately.

Depending on who your satellite service is with, the recording is even easier. Here is how I record with Dish Network.
Once you've set up the VCR as Peter has said, go to your on screen menu. Select the show you want to record and a pop up box will come up that will allow you to record it. Depending on your taping needs, you could tape daily or weekly with one push of the button.
When finished, leave your VCR on for this to record.

Well, two things, first, Cable isnt available in my area. SO, I was forced to go satalite. Once I got it, I realised I am getting about 40 more channels than I was getting with Cable, and I am paying $30 a month less. SO, I cant/wont comlain too much.
Now, if they had a nice internet option that was worth the money, I would never ever consider leaving satalite when/if cable becomes available.
Besides, the problems I have had with billing from the cable people make me want to shoot people. Been battling them for months about a simple bill that they cannot figure out.
BTW, Thanks everybody!
