Werent we talking about this show a little while ago, when talking about the old NBC lineups?

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- The cult TV comedy, "Sledge Hammer," hasn't been on since Ronald Reagan was in office, but it could be making a comeback.

The complete collection of "Sledge Hammer" episodes will be released on DVD today (Jul. 27) and series star David Rasche is still hammered by how popular his show remains.

I read this the other day, and what came to mind was Butthead saying, "This is the greatest thing ever" in that oh, so seductive voice of his.

I'm debating picking up the DVD, but ~$25 seems a tad high for something I'll probably only watch once. I seriously need Netflix or something.

Perhaps sales will go well, and Spike or some other desperate cabler will pick the series up for a few months.

I don't think there are enough shows to cable it successfully. It was one of my guilty pleasures when it was on.

Got it and it's funnier than I remember it. There are a few full episode commentaries from Alan Spencer but the big thing he was pushing for was to have the laugh track removed from the early episodes. There's an insert that looks like a manilla folder with some old TV Guide print ads and a 16 page booklet talking about how the show came into being. A small gripe is that there's no pocket or anything to keep it from slipping out when the box is closed.

There's also a small documentary on the last disc with the main actors and Spencer, but I haven't gotten there yet.

There was two seasons, so hopefully the second one will make the transition to DVD as well.

The title sounds familiar, but I don't think I ever watched the show. I read the viewer comments over at www.jumptheshark.com.
It just amazes me that people can remember the the episodes, plot points, the character names, etc. from a show that aired from 1986-88 and hasn't been on in reruns. How do they do it? Either they taped all the shows or have extremely good memories.

whatever

Man this IS great... too bad I mentioned it about two weeks ago or so...

No biggie!

Comedy Central had the rights to it in it's early days. They even had an all day marathon I remember where I recorded it from.

Have to agree with that, it was that amazingly funny. It's unbelievable a show that good only lasted a couple of seasons. You gotta love a show that was so certain they were going to get that they killed everyone off just to return next season "5 years in the past" LoL... Joined a list of real funny TV cop shows that never really got a chance like Police Squad and more recently The Job.

Hmmm what was better of the two, Police Squad or Sledgehammer. I loved both of them, I think I have to give Sledgehammer the slight nod because Sledge was so unstable & crazy compared to Drebin who's very entertaining as well but is a bit more of a haha/incompetence... But hey both shows are amazing.
