| #1 Posted on 19.7.04 2211.03 Reposted on: 19.7.11 2212.22 | FOOTAGE! of - oh, THAT'S what happened last week.
It's time for Raw, live from Washington, D.C....and a Fashion Report, too!
HHH, in black polo shirt and black slacks, walks ot the ring and talks. he apologizes for his assault, last week, on Eugene, but quickly rescinds that when he declares his hatred for Eugene. HHH has FOOTAGE! showing Benoit and Regal tending to Eugene, after last week's Raw. Bisch, in tan suit and black shirt, comes down to announce that H has rid Raw of Eugene. Bisch books H vs. Benoit, next week, in an Iron-Man Match for the Title. Then Bisch books Benoit vs. Batista for later tonight. Then Regal, in black suit, white shirt, and tie, comes down and dedicates the forthcoming throwdown (with HHH) to Eugene. Only Bisch's Rent-a-Cops' timely entrance can stop Regal's righteous fury.
La Resistance, in blue/white vests, wearing the Tag Titles, and waving Quebec flags, already in the ring, sing. Tajiri, in black pants with flaming left hem and gold dragon, with Rhyno, in black "Raw" tshirt, interrupt. Tajiri vs. Sylvan, in white "La Resistance" undies. Chad Patton is the referee, in stripes. King works "girlie man" into his commentary. Sylvan hits a facebuster -> pin. Average match.
FOOTAGE! of last weekend's houseshows.
Oh man - they CC those accursed "The Truth" commercials.
Jericho, in black "Jericho" shirt and light blue tights, gets sucked down when the pasel of gorgons invade his Hilight Reel. My "Not with a 10-foot pole" policy is still in effect. Channel-flipping goodness (well, badness).
Tomko, in black jagged "X" undies, with Trish, vs. Hurricane, in black "H" cape and chest, green tights, and mask, with Stacy Kiebler. Jack Doan is the official, in stripes. Man, the CC is really having problems tonight. Tomko with a boot to the head -> pin. Post-match, Rosie, in black, blue/orange "R" shirt and shorts and orange mask, saves Stacy from a heel beatdown.
In the back, Flair and Batista pow-wow with HHH.
JR, in a grey suit, blue shirt, tie and black hat, and King, in blakc suit and white shirt, read from Flair's book.
Benoit, in black tights with blue slashes, carrying the World Heavyweight Title, vs. Batista, in pewter "Batista" undies, with crotch flame, escorted by Flair, in grey suit and white shirt. Hebner's the referee. After a while, batista focuses on Chris's head and neck. Eventually Batista gets DQ'ed for attacking Benoit whilst he's caught-up in the ropes. Average match.
Moments ago, two sentences ago. During the break, Benoit was helped out of the ring.
In the back, Lita walks to meet Mattitude. Awkward relationship dialogue ensues ('yeah I'm carrying another man's baby, but YOU'RE the one I love.').
Meanwhile, Randy is interviewed by Todd Grisham. Randy declares he'll win tonight's IC rematch. Edge butts in and says some disparaging things.
Diva search garbage. Can we vote to kick them all off?
Jericho, in same as before, vs. Kane, in black tights with red barbedwire stripes. Patton pulls double-duty with this match. Jericho wins by countout. Bisch comes out to announce the match is "no DQ/falls count anywhere" and that the match resumes "Right now." Which, as we all know, is AdBreak's que.
Jericho vs. Kane, cont. The pair brawls into the audience. Batista shows up to assault Jericho. Kane gets the pin.
Lillian introduces troops.
Diva Search crap from last Thursday.
Randy, in black "Orton" undies with gold scrawlings, vs. Edge, in black "Edge" trenchcoat, and black tights with white faceprints, wearing the IC Title. Mike Chioda is the referee. Since everybody's on the outside, AdBreak decides to get some more screentime.
Randy vs. Edge, cont. It's all good back-and-forth action, but then comes the ref bump. (sigh) Then comes Endgame, with near-falls gallore. Edge with a backslide (and feet on the ropes) -> pin. A good match.
Overall: An entertaining show. My only real gripe was the Diva stuff, but that was (thankfully) kept to a minimum.
What was the deal with Edge's heelish victory? Maybe the cheers for Orton require a double-turn?
And why is the Iron-Man Match opening next week's show? (but that's for another time) Promote this thread! | | Mayhem

I mean, I like hot chicks as much as the next guy, but that diva shit is horrible ... and some of them aren't even that attractive.
I wonder why Randy Orton is the only member of Evolution without his own separate entrance music? And why does Tomko have to use Christian's music?
I'm really liking the buildup to the La Resistance vs. Rhyno/Tajiri feud ...
The main event was pretty solid. Those guys will be fighting each other for the World title within the next 12 to 18 months.
Poor Jericho ... he gets stuck with that diva crap, then wants to accept a countout win and then gets punked out ...

Started off with Triple H going back to his old grunting, boring style of promos. You hate Eugene, WE GET IT. Move on....Nice job by Regal kicking Trips' ass. And a nice pop too....Tajiri/Grenier was ugly in some spots, especially Tajiri grazing Grenier after a handspring....I can't believe, even after the negative reaction both in-house and on the 'net, WWE is STILL pushing this diva crap on TV....
Tomko/Hurricane was interesting if only for Rosey's promotion. About time they did something to advance the superhero gimmick....Benoit/Batista was okay, but shouldn't the world champ be a little higher up on the card, or at least appear more than once per episode....Jericho v.s Kane was good, if a bit long....Orton v.s Edge was a very good main event, not bogged down by a bunch of restholds. And the near-falls at the end were convincing....Decent episode tonight.

Tonight was proof of why you don't throw untrained chicks into a segment that involves acting. Kudos to Bischoff for keeping it straight. He was surrounded by talentless chicks who had NO clue what to do, but he held it together. I thought he was gonna' just break down during the segment. But, he kept his cool.
Don't Matt and Lita live together? That's gotta' make the whole 'not speaking to each other' thing quite akward.
Anyone notice on the back of Randy's "Legend Killer" shirt, that Rob Van Dam and Booker T are mentioned? Nice to see WWE thinks of Rob and Booker as legends. Too bad they don't treat them that way.
I really enjoyed the main-event.

Benoit/Batista was OK, and did a good job of setting up the "Benoit is banged up going into the iron man match" story. The "Benoit caught in the ropes while Batista kicks his head off" spot was nice.
2nd hour was a bit better. Jericho/Kane was meh, and Orton/Edge dragged in the middle but picked up at the end (which is par for every Orton match lately). Match was OK, I guess, but I'm not feeling either guy (or that match). Batista is way more interesting to me than either Orton or Edge.
OK show, but I'd take either of the last 2 SD's over this Raw.

The problems I had with the show include:
A year and a half ago, Regal wouldn't go anywhere without a pair of brass knuckles, but for some reason, they're now MIA. BRING THEM BACK! Without them, Regal beating down Triple H just seems silly.
What happens when you have ten wannabe-Divas screwing around while at the same time your General Manager is onscreen trying to be in-character? You get smartass girls saying things like "We were having a party" and "Eugene said we could be here."
Who did Kane piss off backstage last week? He loses to Jericho via COUNTOUT, and only ends up winning the match because of Batista's interference? Super Evil Monster Kane is lacking. You know what would truly be a monstrous thing to do? Have Kane eat somebody (Diva Search Contestants) on live television.

On the matches, Tajiri/Sylvain was really slow starting off, and picked up a bit. Benoit/Batista was entertaining as Benoit continues to be a great worker, and Batista continues to improve. Jericho/Kane was decidedly better than last week, and told a good story. And Edge/Orton was fantastic. Great pace and the ref bumb was used well, which rarely happens. Just surprised that for the second time in two weeks, Edge used a heel tactic to win.
When the divasearch ends, RAW could be REALLY good, week after week.

Usually HHH promos bug the hell out of me.
Orton/Edge promo was good, and the match was better than Vengeance (although I watched it on tape the day after wisdom tooth surgery) The "Randy" chants at the end tell me they shouldn't have taken the title off him. WWE will probably turn him face which in the long term is stupid. | Freeway

You couldn't ask for much better than tonight's Orton-Edge match. Much better and more compact than at Vengeance, and Edge using the ropes for leverage (again) was intriguing.
My only question is -- what matches are they building to for SummerSlam? I mean, it is only a couple of weeks away now, right? What's the main event? If Benoit loses, where will he be left? Regal gets the "security" treatment, thus establishing him as a main-eventer.
Did the diva segments use a new version of Matt Hardy's entrance music?
I'm convinced the Edge tactics will result in a reunion with Christian. I'm not the first to say it, but I greatly agree with it.
I'm all for Batista's push as a monster. Really. But I don't buy his clothesline as a deadly maneuver.
An energetic show, especially the main event finish where Randy shoulders up after two spears.
I like Rosey's new duds.
The black diva candidate is my fave. She knew to stick with Jericho to stay on camera and she stood up front with Eric, again to be in frame. She's a natural.

To see a crowd react so vociferously and *POSITIVELY!* to a heel is still weird to me. If you want to see a similar reaction to Batista's tonight, look no further than the six man opener from Halloween Havoc '92 (Arn Anderson/Bobby Eaton/Michael Hayes vs. Tom Zenk/Johnny Gunn[Tom Brandi]/Shane Douglas)-- I just had to throw out an old school reference when pertinent!
Moreover, I was confused about tonight's main event. If I wasn't a follower of WWE, I would have thought that ORTON was the face. Am I the only one to think that? As much as I hate to say it, Randy Orton's going to be THE Next Big Thing. Period. After seeing how much he's progressed so quickly over the last few months, I have no doubt anymore as to Orton leapfrogging over John Cena, Shelton Benjamin and others to become WWE's franchise player of the future.

You know smart money would be to have Triple H vs. Regal in a match at Summerslam. Just have them go at it like Regal vs. Finlay a few years ago.
The Diva's search thing is umm...stupid. The Red Head Christy can win. She's by far the hottest chick and most lively of the bunch.
Carmella had a I'm above being here look tonight. I figured if they were doing an immunity thing she would magically find it.
So these numbers to call are toll free eh? More proof it's rigged. The WWE would get sued if they charged for the calls.
Batista is the man. He could be a new Lesnar for them in terms of Intensity.
Jericho/Kane was a solid match and I liked the ending. Why Batista attack Jericho is a bit foggy, but what ever it takes to get him over as a BAH GAWD GOVERMENT MULE.
Orton/Edge continue to have a damn good series of matches. This could be the sleeper feud of the year.
Overall a good show. I was expecting Eugene to run in and attack Orton at the end...but I liked it never the less.
