Ummmm...?
Of the people that have seen this guy compete before, anybody think this Orton kid's "got anything?"
I saw him at a house show recently and his moveset, look, and "charisma" were that of a Indy Fed. lifer. He was about as interesting as my dog's ass. Probably less - seeing as how a my dog's ass once had a ****1/2 match with diarrhea. Promote this thread! | | oldschoolhero

He struck gold once with Steve Austin and he's riding that wave. Also, the WWF in general has a habit of picking the wrong guys in. Their most recent mistake? Picking Nash Hall and Hogan over any three random guys down in the developmental territories who (in addition to being hella cheap) could be built into stars. | oldschoolhero

| #4 Posted on 24.3.02 1234.56 Reposted on: 24.3.09 1237.24 | Nash, Hall and Hogan all had name value (BIG name value) which would guarantee a lot more business and revenue than three unknown indy workers. The WWF needed a big short term boost and they're bringing it. As for Steve Williams and Billy Gunn, JR backed Williams due to friendship and past glory (decent reasons, I'd say), and I've never heard him praise Gunn outside of the announce booth (in others, out of character). So if JR is saying positive things about a no-name indy guy he has no discernable relationship with, I'd say that pretty indicative of said guy's talents. | Tragic1

Remember when Kurt Angle was doing dark matches and everyone was saying that while his ringwork was good, he'd probably be too boring to make it in the WWF? While on the other hand, K-Kwik was getting rave reviews online for his dark match work. Wrong on both counts.
Besides, I want to see if Randy suffers from the same 'chronic arm injury' his dad had. ;)

OSH, do you REALLY wanna relive the horror that this "short term" logic has invoked before? It did kill WCW before. Living for the short term is great... For a short time. But look at what's happened so far with the short term booking. Failed Invasion, non-lethal poison, Hogan a firkin' face AGAIN. The WWF is the only big game in town, they need to work for the long term if they want to stay that way.
Now, the "chronic arm injury"... Is that hereditary? I'd love to see the cast-covered forearm from the middle rope again! But leave the vest and cowboy hat at home.

Although if he's been hanging with D'Lo, then maybe he'll have caught the incredibly nasty "Nine Month Chest Injury Disorder". THAT could be FATAL... | rushmw

| #8 Posted on 24.3.02 1510.29 Reposted on: 24.3.09 1529.02 | If Orton's moveset and "look" is that on an Indy fed lifer, then there would be a lot of Indy feds with national credibility...
Orton has to work on his psychology and the way he works the crowd. His psychology is the most suspect thing in the package.
Physically he's solid and athletic. Well put together, but nothing immediately leaps out about him.
His moveset is impressive when allowed to cut loose. He's definitely more polished than Rock was in the actual wrestling department when Rocky was brought in.
Orton is also only 21 years old, and figures to be a long-term WWF project. He won't be coming in and winning the Intercontinental title two months from now.
I wouldn't be suprised to see them package him initially in a tag team of some sort and let him develop from there.
There's really nothing there singles wise that the fed will be able to do with him over the long term and still protect him for the future.
I'm half-expecting him to be in a tag team led by Stacy Keibler to get back at the Dudleys for driving her through a table.
