Tons of cameos in this one too.
Not oscar winning stuff, just a fun night at the movies!
Over an hour of footage was cut from the theatrical release of this too, so look out for the falls hottest DVD!
Final verdict: See it!

I was wondering why two clips from the commercials for the movie weren't even IN the movie- now I guess we know.

I heard an interview with Christina Applegate that said they cut so much footage from the first movie that they are making an entire new movie out of it? Is that what you are talking about? Is it going to be only on the DVD? | asteroidboy

| They do the standard bloopers/alternate takes montage over the closing credits. In the middle, for no reason whatsoever, they've stuck a blooper from Smoky and the Bandit II. If that's as hilarious to you as it is to me, you should see this movie right the fuck now. |
Will Ferrell is awesome, as usual. Steve Carrell manages to steal every scene he's in. (Giving me hope for the US version of The Office which he'll going to be playing the David Brent role on.)
The best stupid comedy since Billy Madison. Highly recommended.

But the plans were as of Friday to put out a DVD (like badder santa) with the extra hour in it.
I too noticed that a few parts from the commercial aren't in the film.

Well, I was a little underwhelmed. Will Ferrell's done some funny stuff, so I was expecting something a little better. Everyone in the theater seemed to enjoy it though...namely anytime Ferrell openend his mouth. There WERE some funny moments, but I also thought there were a LOT of stupid moments. I thought Carrell's character really clashed and made no sense. Not that I was expecting a drawn-out backstory or actual character development, but his character literally had NO purpose being there. Maybe in "Part 2" he'll have a point.

He definitely got some laughs as Ferrell's antagonist.
And speaking of rival stations, the huge melee was something to behold and it'll stand out as one of the most insane, funny visuals I've seen at the movies in a long time.

You have NO idea how badly I wanna do this in my market. Of course, it might not be a fair fight, because two stations are really the same joint, running out of the same building.
At last, a chance to clobber some rivals! But wait...my indy fed's promotOR works at a rival station...do I turn heel and join up with him, or turn on him and stay loyal to my paycheck-givin' folks?

| #15 Posted on 19.7.04 2015.43 Reposted on: 19.7.11 2021.20 | | Finally saw it yesterday. Good but not great. Old School was better. While I'm not a big fan of the SNL "I'll shout really loud and everything will be funnier" thing, I do like Will Ferrell in general. Being an ex TV employee (and San Diegan in the '70's) I did see alot of recognizable figures based in part on reality. Most of the people I saw it with were in the 15-25 range and were howling throughout, so it hit them more than me. I did LOL at some scenes, and the cameos are cool. I'd say it was worth $4.75. | Oliver

The entire theatre laughed at the movie, especially during the prologue, where they explain the fate of the stupid weather guy...definately an anti-Bush remark if I'd ever heard one.
I love all the actor cameos there; including Jack Black as the biker, and the trifecta of Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, and Tim Robbins as rival news anchors. Pure gold.

A lot of funny stuff "Did you throw a trident?" Classic.
And, Luke Wilson was hilarious when the bear gets him "Oh, now this is just rediculous"
