From observer, house show results from Binghamton:
-----
Match # 9 Triple H & Kane vs. Chris Jericho & Kurt Angle
-- Crowd went nuts for both teams with Triple H getting the loudest pop. The crowd chanted for Triple H alot. Y2J and Triple H both worked the mic for this match. The crowd chanted Y2Gay and Angle sucks so Triple H got on the mic and asked if that meant they both swallowed. Very funny! Triple H looked emotional as the crowd was way behind him. The WWF should have had a few cameras there to capture it. I've heard bad things about house shows but this was a great show. Jericho was spilt open in the nose. We think Kane cut him open. Jericho tried for the Pedigree but Triple H turned it into the Walla of Jericho. Triple nailed the Pedigree on Jericho for the win.
Winner: Triple H and Kane

Hmmmmm.....

I sure was hoping for a heel HHH, but if he does come back as a face, I sure would love to see him feud with Y2J!

Hmmmmm.....

Jericho vs. Steph
Jericho vs. Rock
Jericho vs. Flair
Jericho vs. RVD
Jericho vs. HHH

Jericho vs. the World would be a great angle in my mind!

You have instant feuds for all the top guys who would all have to fight each other to get shots at Jericho.

Well didn't take long for equilibrium to return to the WWF now did it? I know it's considered some sort of too-cynical overly-smarkish Scott Keith-loving sort of view, but I will be stunned if Jericho is anything higher than 4th from the top at WM, while HHH is somehow in the main event, or at *worst* second from the top. Same goes for Booker and RVD being down at the mid-card.

But man, that glowing Booker hand just rules the whole world!

There, I feel better now.

Well didn't take long for people to twist and turn and BITCH about Triple H getting a dramatic victory in his return bout now did it?

Put yourself in that house show crowd. Are you telling me you're NOT rooting for Triple H? (Well, obviously YOU'RE not......)

No, I wouldn't be rooting for Trip, since to me he was the least interesting guy in the ring. I give him credit, he works very hard in his matches, and he has a physique that it positively incredible. However, beyond that, I fail to see what it is about him that really is all that and the proverbial bag of chips. His interviews bore the beejeezus out of me, save for the Ironman match with the Rock he really has never IMO carried someone to a particularly strong match, despite the fact others have carried him, and I just have a general antipathy towards anyone who is so force-fed down my wrestling palate. Someone on one of the boards asked why Jericho doesn't get the 20 minute interview every single show that it seemed like HHH got, which really is my issue with him. I loved him when he was an upper mid-card face, ironically in about the same spot Jericho had been for most of 2000-2001, because it seemed to me to suit his skills well. But when the giant "Get HHH Over At All Costs" push began, it turned me off. Maybe I'm just tainted by the fact that he's so closely associated with the whole damn McMahon family both in the storylines and IRL, and I'm willing to concede he'd likely be slightly less bothersome without Steph. But in the end I just don't see what it is about him that justifies the fact that on Monday he will almost certainly walk right back into the main event level of the WWF. And if the answer to that question is "listen to the crowd reaction" then I simply don't understand what about justified the level of effort the WWF put into making sure he out of all their people got and keeps such reaction.

I simply do NOT understand all the H}{H hating that goes on. Sure, he might have backstage pull, but that's VINCE'S fault. The man hasn't been on TV for 6 months. At least let him have all the storylines revolve through his character before we start tearing him down again, okay? =)}H}{He might not be the flashiest of wrestlers, but like Arn Anderson (if I can take you back), everything H}{H does looks believable, makes sense psychologically, and looks like it hurts. What more could you possibly ask for?

H}{H in the ring again = DrOp marking out BIG TIME.

H}{He's one of the top workers in the Fed, yo.

If they *hadn't* let Triple H win his first match back, it would've been mighty gay.

It's a house show. On house shows, you aim at sending the crowd home happy. In a tag team main event, you have the faces win. And when you have one of the top three stars in pro-wrestling returning from a lengthy absence as a babyface and he's participating in that tag team main event and you wanna send the crowd home happy, what do you do? Have him job? Have him be a non-factor? Have a DQ? NO YOU DON'T.

See? It's rather simple.

Now, stop bitching when there's nothing to bitch about. Bitches.

*feels like heavy is the head that apparently must wear the HHH-Hater crown* Couple of quick points:

- DrOp compared HHH to Arn Anderson, which I actually really do like the comparison, since as I said before one of my great problems with HHH is I just feel like his spot exceeds his skills. AA never got a long run at world champ, never married the boss's daughter in the storylines, never ran roughshod over a federation, never made the Fed Champ into seemingly his errand boy, etc. If HHH had stayed in the upper mid-card, lower upper-card I wouldn't be so actively against seeing him on my tv. But the fact that whenever he's around all the shows seem to revolve around him and what he's doing just is too much. I like WWF shows revolving around Austin. I don't mind shows revolving around Rock. I like shows revolving around Angle. I'd love to see the idea of shows written well enough that they don't seem to revolve around any one person. I don't like shows revolving around HHH.

- I fear my gallows humor is being used against me. No, I don't care that HHH pinned Jericho in his house show return. Was just my way of showing fear and annoyance that likely Jericho will be pushed down a notch upon his return, as it seemed was the case the whole time during the HHH-Jericho feud.

- No I wasn't bitchy when RVD pinned Jericho, since for a moment it looked like the WWF might be considering a title feud not involving any of the Big Three (Rock, Austin, HHH) for the first time since the glorious Big Show/Bossman feud. Of course, Smackdown took care of that little glimmer of hope, but there ya go.

While I think HHH coming back at a house show to get his game on, I think everyone is ignoring the other big return at that house show. That's right, Justin Credible pinned Ron Waterman.

But seriously, it would be a real pisser that in HHH's return to any ring action would end up in a loss. Especially at a house show, where storylines don't matter but the wrestling does. So, I agree with JF up there. Stop bitching.

I think there were a lot of people around the Net and beyond who questioned H}{H's push when in started way back when. Since that time, however, he has really earned his spot, IMO.

The guy consistently puts in good matches. The last H}{H match I can remember sucking was a SD! match with Rikishi. I mean, c'mon. He delivers night in and night out on the mic, and in the ring. Plus, if what they say is true and he booked that Tag Match where he gt injured, he has an excellent feel for booking, too.

Obviously the show cylces around one predominant wreslter. It has been around Austin while H}{H has been gone and I'm sure he'll get a LOT of TV time starting on Monday. But with the Rosters set to split at the end of the month, H}{He should be a lot less over-exposed than he has been. Same for Rock, Austin, UT and Angle.

P.S. I think Anderson never got a run at the Championship because Flair was there and they couldn;t really be at odds without breaking out the Horsemen. But, IMO, he could have been a great champ if pushed properly.

So H beat Jericho...big hairy deal! It was a HOUSE SHOW! It doesn't mean ANYTHING! It wasn't on TV! Besides, I'm sure the folks in attendence loved the shit out of it.

After reading CRZ's report, and seeing they've got H and Jericho workin' together in the house show, I'm really hoping for a big Jericho/HHH feud. It'd be nothing short of awesome TV....assuming H comes in as a face, that is....

*promises himself to apply the sarcasm tag to all further comments* I don't care that HHH won at the house show. It just gave me a good reason to discuss one of my favorite wrestling topics, which is why I don't like HHH.

As for DrOp's comments, I agree he has put on a series of nice matches, but I credit that more to who he has worked with in the most part, and to the fact that since the storylines around him are always pushed to the moon, they tend to be the ones generating the most heat in the promotion. I mean, he's had great matches with Austin who was the consensus wrestler of the year, with Benoit who is God, Angle who is a prodigy, Foley who gave HHH his career to help get him over (name anyone HHH has helped get more over after feuding with him than before. If you name Jericho, I say you're wrong.), Jericho who personally I feel is still one of the top 5 talents in North America overall, hell even TAKA is an amazing if not well-used talent. On the other hand, I'm remembering the debacle when HHH faced Test on Raw...a nice piece of 4 minute boring squash.
As for HHH's interviews, while they're kinda fun to parody when sitting in front of my tv, I can't really say I take anything from them. To me they always struck me as kinda caricatureish and really just a sort of updated version of the old ranting and raving and yelling interviews of olden days. I loved the old DX interviews when they were still at least being a bit unique, but basically every HHH interview from when he became "the game" is the same, only with a different opponent thrown in there. Admittedly the same could be said for Rock or to a lesser degree Austin, but they have the advantage of using humor, which helps to a degree to take the edge of the sameness.

I do hope they do the split, and that they keep RVD and Jericho out of the HHH division. That may be IMHO their only chance of ever truly breaking through in the WWF, because if anyone here can ever truly see HHH letting either of them go over him in a convincing way, I'd sure like to hear it.

There, I feel better now.

Fair enough, spf.

But H}{H isn't about humor. H}{He's about kicking asses and taking names. I still say H}{H brings his full 50% to every match in terms of work ethinc and ability, but I agree that he has not done his part to fully build new stars. He came close with that Last Man Standing match with Jericho, but Y2J's push sort of fizzled after that.

DrOp, I agree that's what his character is supposed to be about, but it just always has come off wrong for me. I give him props for always working hard, for giving his all to the angle, and am not saying anything like HHH should be jobbing to Chuck Palumbo. I just never can quite place him in his role in my mind. The "just enjoy it" part of me doesn't really enjoy watching him, save a couple of matches, and the "smart wanna-be" in me just hates watching since he always seems to take more than he gives to his partner in every angle, which is so Nash and Hogan-like to me. But like I said to a friend when the U2 vid for him came on, "it's like a hurricane coming ashore. It's going to happen. There's nothing I can do but try to survive it." But I sure won't be happy about it.
