I rented this game yesterday morning, and I've already put about 8 hours into it. Only about 30% done with the game too! The gameplay is amazing, its as free flowing as a GTA game, but instead of just some chump who can steal cars and shoot cops, you're freakin SPIDERMAN. Simply incredible. I'm 99% sure I'm buying it for PS2 within the nest few weeks.

I am a huge Spiderman fan so it pains me to say this. The game is at best average.

The storyline of the game is NOT the same as the movie, no matter what they say. They made slight changes to the storyline of the movie and that pisses me off. There was nothing wrong with the movie storyline, so why change it.
Also, when you finish the movie storyline, the Rhyno, BlackCat, Shocker, Mysterio missions there is nothing left to do. The 'random' crime, and pizza delivery missions are tedious after the first few times, over and over and over again doing the same things. Never mind about the stupid bouy, skyscraper, and hint tokens collecting. Your then asked to collect 50000 hero points in the next 2 chapters after the last fight with Doc Ock. I don't care what you get after you do collect that obcene amount points, and doesn't matter.

Seriously, this game gets old really fast and has NO REPLAY VALUE WHATS SO EVER. 3 out of 5

I really liked the movie, but I am really glad that they didn't follow the movie for the game. How boring would a game that is half flirting with MJ and feeling uncertain of yourself be? You'd spend a third of the game without powers.

Warning to everybody.

DO NOT GET THE PC VERSION. It's an E rated game aimed at 6-12 year old crowd and is not a port of the console versions.

There's a big to-do about it. I was going to pick up the PC version because it is $29.99. I went to gamefaqs.com to read a review and there were none. The message board there was loaded with pissed off gamers that bought the game thinking it was the copy advertised. It has the same box art as the console versions and on the commercials it has the PC CD-ROM logo on it.

Just passing the word along.

I agree with the whole flirting with MJ thing, but changing the storyline, to where Doc Ock , blames Spider-Man for his wifes death (not true), and the complete lack of Harry finding out his dad was GGoblin.

I recently beat the storyline, and yeah it was short, and yeah the rest of the game is pretty repetitive, but I'm still hooked. The sheer enjoyment of being able to swing through the streets of NYC, rip into gangs of thugs like no one but Spidey can, and swandive off the Empire State building with flawless graphical transitions, still has me hooked to the game. This is the kind of game I would spend weeks mastering until beating down 8 guys with automatics is but a mere afterthought. Then I'd put it away for a few months and come back and have a blast playing it again. I'm not usually an avid gamer (this past weekend aside, due to SP2), so maybe if you are, the burnout happens more quickly and cannot be remedied.

Now, if only a good Batman game could finally be made.

I'm mad for this game. I started playing it Saturday and have worked through four chapters so far. I've been stymied by the Quinten Beck Spidey Challenge, but I intend to try again as soon as I stop playing SD: HCTP with my Vader CAW.

The script is just right, with wise-ass New Yorkers yelling at Spidey and him muttering his response as he swings by. The physics are nice, the city construction is solid enough for a country mouse like me, and the music doesn't distract but has a nice cinematic tone to it. The controls are easy to maneuver, and the game plays well. No major hiccup so far for me.

The only thing lacking is the beloved first-person mode from the first movie's game. Then again, that code may not have been found yet.

Games based off movies most often tend to be mediocre at best (the Chronicles of Riddick game was pretty good actually according to many people). So don't be really pissed that Spiderman 2 isn't all its up to be.

Sounds like the random crimes happening are a very poor rip-off from CoH.

Because, you know, City of Heroes has been out for soooo long that the Spider-Man people had time to go and throw that into their game to copy it.

I rented the game, and it is great. I admit it is repetitive, and I care nothing for little balloons that whiny brats lose all the time. The storyline is great though so far and the missions are mostly difficult but manageable.

I have also found perhaps the most georgous screen that I have ever seen on the X-box. The scene in the burning theater is just amazing to look at (this is where you have to save the reporters while fighting Mysterio's robot goons). It is also difficult, but so much fun to try to defeat.

My only problem is that I'm having a big...um...problem with the section after the theater. This is the mission where you have to swing above the Statue of Liberty and destroy orbs. I just can't get high enough to be able to get to them. I have only gotten one of the 16 orbs, and I am frustrated at this level. Any hints for me?

Oh, and the best way to beat the first Beck level is to remember first to use the L button to sprint webclimb. For the last section (with the moving platforms), try to jump from one platform to the next, making sure not to jump too high. With three good small jumps, you should be able to get to the final switch. It was difficult for me, but I eventually got it.

So overall, it is like the first game. It is challenging, but fun challenging and I love the graphics. Good rental.

The best thing to do is swing and use 'L' to gain more momentum then jump close to the orbs and start punching/kicking in the air. The game engine will automatically bring you close enough to the orb(glitch)and just keep punching and kicking defying gravity and it should be pretty easy. It did take me a few trys though, but no time limit thank god so it was pretty easy, little fustrating sure.

Just beat the game. Damned, damned addictive and amazingly frustrating at times...but fun as heck.
