Good Riddance (nypost.com)

Yet another former all-star who came to the Elephant's Graveyard of 50 Goal Scorers to cash his checks and underperform. I would have taken a left handed Koho and a bag of used practice pucks for him last year. If he is smart, he will take is 8-time concussed squishy head and retire.

I thought he played decently enough considering the giant fork sticking out from under his jersey...

Eric Lindros' career stats:
92-93: Flyers; 41 Goals/75 Points
93-94: Flyers; 44 Goals/97 Points
94-95: Flyers; 29 Goals/70 Points
95-96: Flyers; 47 Goals/115 Points
96-97: Flyers; 32 Goals/79 Points
97-98: Flyers; 30 Goals/71 Points
98-99: Flyers; 40 Goals/93 Points
99-00: Flyers; 27 Goals/59 Points
00-01: Didn't Play
01-02: Rangers; 37 Goals/73 Points
02-03: Rangers; 19 Goals/53 Points
03-04: Rangers; 10 Goals/32 Points
According to the NHLPA, he made $3.3 Million last year.

Let's compare him with, say, Theoren Fleury (another quality player whose numbers went south in Manhattan):
88-89: Flames; 14 Goals/34 Points
89-90: Flames; 31 Goals/66 Points
90-91: Flames; 51 Goals/104 Points
91-92: Flames; 33 Goals/73 Points
92-93: Flames; 34 Goals/100 Points
93-94: Flames; 40 Goals/85 Points
94-95: Flames; 29 Goals/58 Points
95-96: Flames; 46 Goals/96 Points
96-97: Flames; 29 Goals/67 Points
97-98: Flames; 27 Goals/78 Points
98-99: Flames/Avalanche; 40 Goals/93 Points
99-00: Rangers; 15 Goals/64 Points
00-01: Rangers; 30 Goals/74 Points
01-02: Rangers; 24 Goals/63 Points
02-03: Blackhawks; 12 Goals/33 Points

Word is that New York is just too nuts to be a good hockey market, especially since anything players want is readily available...including drugs (FLEURY).

The Rangers never should have even thought about making that trade in the first place. I said so when they did it, too:

"Why? Because even if Lindros does play that well for the next two years,
the Rangers still aren't going anywhere. If this was a playoff team as
currently constituted, and adding one more big gun might bring in a Cup,
things would be very different. But the Rangers simply aren't close."
