| #3 Posted on 29.6.04 0542.46 Reposted on: 29.6.11 0542.54 | Spoilers ahoy (major ones marked with the appropriate tags, since until today the new episode aired on Monday instead of Tuesday)...
And to think last week I thought Piper's comment about Ingrid being the "Spawn of Satan" was just a little out of line...
Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Ingrid is *this* close to figuring it all out. She's figured out the first six eliminations as being actors, heavily suspects/knows Cammy of being an actress, and wonders how many other actors have been planted in the cast!
And somewhat predictably, her "Ingrid/Thinks it's all real" chyron now reads "Ingrid/We're screwed". |
The game was another big double-entendre, not that that should surprise anybody by now. This time, it's a cooking contest where: Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
the ladies present a blind-folded Austin with foods that he has to eat without using his hands from a furry, pink box. The boys have theirs in furry, blue sacks. |
The other major event of the show was pretty convenient for the writers, as Tim's 29th birthday happened to fall during the show's taping. Gerrald (sorry, I've been calling him Gerrard in previous posts) throws a surprise party for Tim and a party game provides some of the funniest footage I've seen so far: Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Bryce uses face-paint to write "Piper" (with a heart on the "i", no less) on his forehead in such a perfect moment, I almost laughed myself off the couch. Then it's Truth or Dare, and when Tim chooses a dare, he has to perform a lap-dance on Gerrald. Gerrald ends up with Tim dry-humping his face... |
When I'd heard that 96x interview with Ralph about the changing eviction ceremonies, I thought the Pearl Necklace and Lit Wick gimmicks would change as well, it's just his little one-liners leading into the ceremony. It's a little less than I was hoping for, but still, Ralph has the perfect comic delivery for them.
As for the eviction ceremony (again promised to be the most shocking ever, and "this time, we mean it!"): Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
They ended the show with a cliffhanger, and from the looks of things, Ingrid very likely will go, but I'm hoping that's a swerve. Case in point, only the women are invited to the ceremony, presumably to keep Tim from seeing whatever is going down. The speeches are so blatantly bad, it's like they're practically screaming "We give up!". Ingrid gives a nice little speech about an angel Christmas ornament holding a heart. Eleanor just asks for a second Pearl Necklace. Ambrosia quotes Michael Jackson lyrics. Cammy is glad that Austin liked her tasty box.
The first two Pearl Necklaces are given to Eleanor (yay!) and Cammy (boo!)... Who's going to get the 3rd one? That's your cliffhanger.
I was guessing that this was ensuring that Cammy had to go since Ingrid has her figured out and she's the only one Ingrid seems sure is an actress. Then they also keep Eleanor, who Ingrid is buying entirely and Ambrosia, who's probably their best chance at putting Ingrid back in line next to Gerrald. This obviously isn't what's going to happen next Monday.
They're going to blow half the show's concept if they toss Ingrid and the black-screen comment by Austin seems directed at Ambrosia, so they've really got me wondering what's their new game plan now. If they're really rolling the dice, they could just let her know and try to get her to play along with the game, but that's to much of a wild card, especially 2 days into the 13 days of filming. |
Next Monday's teasers looks to have at least one guest appearance by a familiar face.
While JS1 turned more into a feel good show by the end, this one is more suspenseful than most anything else I've watched in a long time. Excellent stuff!
EDIT: Screwed up the spoiler tags, but they're better now.

Why?
Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Cause the guys weren't in the room during the eviction ceremony, that's why. The opposite sex has been around for the previous two ceremonies, but not this one. My guess is they want to keep Tim out of it, and let Ingrid in on everything. |

Did they just get complacent because Matt was so clueless last year? (I've been in legitimate business meetings that centered around the problem of "How do we know when to panic?") I especially liked the discussion of the guy still being untainted, & did they need to do something about Ingrid before she clued him in. And the actors continuing to screw up didn't help any! |

| #8 Posted on 30.6.04 0244.19 Reposted on: 30.6.11 0245.03 | No one picked up on the Lita/Stacy deja-vu that went on between Ingrid & Cammy in the bathroom when Cammy wanted to tell Ingrid something in private as Ingrid asks "With the camera's right here?" Gawd Ingrid is smart!... But don't worry Cammy is a good balance is she is as dumb as rocks as she waited for the camera man to replace his batteries before restarting her story not even mentioning early on she mentioned herself in her real name Urh
The innuendo of the games are just WAY too over the top. More Ingrid watches the more it confirms this is a comedy show and not a dating show. Derek Newcastle even screws up by calling Cammy by her name instead of number but very good cover-up from everyone in calling him out for his mistake, and it will make sense Austin picking Cammy then after knowing her name... TJ holding Piper's head as she's eating out of his sack (did I just write that) was so wrong but yet funny.
Poor Tim seems to be really falling for Piper, even though he doesn't admit it on camera. He really wanted that date to go into a more intense directions, he was touching on Bryce level... Speaking of Bryce, classic Bryce (well as classic as 3 episodes can be LoL) as he paints Piper name with a heart over the "i" during the face painting of Tim's birthday. How did everyone figure Gerald is Canadian, are Canadian's that obvious to Americans. Gerrald giving out spankings it's a Canadian custom, but Tim seemed way to eager in giving Gerrald a lap dance.
Nice side story of Eleanor losing her necklace, I think Eleanor is the only person Ingrid believes and why not as Eleanor seems like the only one has any acting ability what so ever as Rita and Cammy are just awful and Ambrosia is not very good either... Ingrid is really so smart, she even picked up on stuff that I didn't and I was in on it! Like wondering how Ernie knew what number of kids he should sponsor. I mean who thinks like that, she is a little wacko. They really shouldn't try to trick someone who works for the U freakin N for monitoring foreign elections as it says on Cubs article. Speaking of Cubs article
Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
-"Bryce the stalker (Kevin Kirkpatrick), who kept professing his love for Piper even after she kicked him off the show."-
When did this happen? Maybe the writer just misquoted her or maybe she is staying on the show longer then next week. This is what I'm thinking... Ambrosia gets eliminated. We hear the drama that we heard for the tease at the end of this show of the "You're a bitch". It will be a real over the top exchange between Ambrosia and Austin. Ingrid once again like she did the other two times sarcastically says "Is this for real" where Derek Newcastle goes to her face and says "You're right, it's not". They will give her a choice to stay on the show and be part of the cast & maybe even give her an extra bit of money or just leave now and pass the pearl necklace to Ambrosia. Hell she's no worse then the "actresses" that were on the show but it is a risk
I would think someone like Ingrid would leave but the Bryce the stalker not leaving after being kicked off that hasn't happened yet is kind of making me feel that she sticks around. I'm a little disappointed in Ingrid in talking so much to the press, some on you work for the UN monitoring phony err foreign elections her more then anyone should know how to keep her mouth shut... I can't confirm this but someone did say to me that in the commercial promos for Joe Schmo Ep 4 they showed a quick view of Ingrid with a pearl necklace wearing this dress. But of course she could have gotten it and been told anyways & pass it to Ambrosia or become one of the actors. Either way the women side is kind of screwed and I don't think Tim is interesting enough to hold the show solely around him. |

Part of me wants to believe that in Cammie being eliminated because of the "Porked in Beans" story that Ingrid wasn't buying. If Ingrid is there next week, it makes sense for Austin to be told by the producers at the last minute about Cammie's video, he calls her the bitch, and both Ingrid and Ambrosia move on.
I also think this is the absolute worse time to bring Matt in after all of this business has been going on... |

| #10 Posted on 1.7.04 0757.24 Reposted on: 1.7.11 0758.08 | I don't really understand why the actors use fake names. Seems like it's an unneccasary risk. Cammy telling her story made a little sense that she would let the camera be there. If I remember correctly she said they knew about the video and were deciding what to do. The fact that the camera had to change batteries is the producers stupidity not Cami's. Almost all of the big problems that have come up have been the producers fault. Sure it was easier to have Ingrid and Tim get there first to get their reactions but it was also (in hindsight) kind of a dumb risk. | Kei Posiskunk

| #11 Posted on 2.7.04 0357.44 Reposted on: 2.7.11 0358.14 | It seems to me that if they're bringing in Matt next episode, chances are they're going to do the reveal to Ingrid right there and then, and as said before, she'll probably be given the choice to help keep Tim "pristine" (as the producers love to say), or just walk away.
Another possibility could be that she's been in on this from the beginning specifically to make life difficult on not only the actors, but also most of the producers (as in Episode 3, where almost the entire staff wants to throw Ingrid out, there's one (their boss?) adamantly pushing and screaming for her to stay.)
Of course, there was also a theory that Matt was a ringer in the first season too, and that turned out to be a whole lot of nothing...

And honestly if they were worried that the contestants had seen the first one, they certainly haven't shown it in their actions (Portions, if not all, of the set (the reveal for instance) look identical.
