Hey, X-Boxers or (former?) Dreamcasters- do you any of you own one of the UFC titles? I've been contemplating the mechanics of the sport and wondered how well it'd translate to a game. I've been following the progress of UFC Throwdown for the PS2, and it sounds somewhat promising.
I really have no interest in UFC at all... but then again, I hated Nascar, and I *heart* Nascar Thunder 2002.
The original UFC game for Dreamcast/PS1 was pretty neat. The grapple system, to a degree, was like that of the PS2 "Legends of Wrestling"- based on timing and counters rather than random button mashing. I'm looking forward to the release of the new game for a REAL system (PS2). | El Pescado

Well, the X-Box UFC game (*Cough* Much like all the other X-Box games *Cough*) is really cruddy. It's got some poor play control and doesn't have a one player mode. On the other hand, the Dreamcast UFC game is pretty good. It's much better than the X-Box game and is a lot harder to get through, but much easier to control. Plus it's got actual one player modes to work through.
I'm not sure who here owns a GameCube, but I've been having lots of fun playing Sega Soccer Slam the last few days. It's a great multiplayer game and the one player mode is kinda like Sega's Virtua Tennis line with a neat world tournament mode. You can earn secrets, new costumes, update your stats, and unlock all kinds of production art in the tournament mode too. My favorite team is Sub Zero, but El Fuego has a masked luchadore as one of their team members ^_^;; | Fazzle

The most common action in this game is shooting something, is it not?
And what view is it done in? First Person, right?
I don't care if they try to add RPG elements to it, it's still a FPS.
And, like I said, I own the game, so I'm not just being blantaly biased(well..maybe I am.) I've played it and don't like it, period, it doesn't matter what genre you want to call it, I still won't like it.
