Can't say I'm surprised, as I didn't even KNOW there was a Lollapalooza this year. I heard zero advertisements for the show.

Poor ticket sales are blamed, and while I like the Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth, I doubt I'd pay to see them along with Morrissey.

It didn't help that Morrissey, who is a HUGE draw in Los Angeles, wasn't booked on the Ventura Fairgrounds date. That's just silly. And no clear reason was ever given as to why. (At least not before I gave up trying to find one.)

Not suprised at all. Take a bunch of bands whose best days are behind them, and they were never really HUGE bands to begin with. Package them in a lollapalooza tour and then dont advertise. It is really no mystery to this one.

It sucks, because personally I was never more stoked for a lineup than this one, but I am not too stunned. Right now the only fest that will draw based on a name at this point is Warped Tour, because all the 14 yr old Hot Topics mall denizens will go out no matter who is on the bill.

However, if this could somehow set it up so instead of sifting through String Cheese Incident fans at an ampitheatre, instead we get the Flaming Lips and The Polyphonic Spree on a single tour playing smaller venues, this then becomes the best news of the summer.

And Stagger, you have devoted a lot of posts to pointing out how much you are disinterested in Lollapalooza this year. Did Perry Farrell piss in your corn flakes one morning or something?

Weren't the Pixies on the bill, too? I would have paid good cash to see them, at least.
And depending on who's listening, I'm either a stupid, sheltered meathead or a good representative of the earth's population...but I don't know one damn thing Morissey sings. Nor do I want to. Nor do I care.

Looking at the line-up, I thought "wow, this would have been HUGE...in 1994".
