| #1 Posted on 19.6.04 2230.11 Reposted on: 19.6.11 2230.24 | I have been considering getting an xbox and getting xbox live so that I could play Halo/Halo 2, and Madden 2005 when those particular games come out. I got into conversations with my friends who are hardcore game players and determined that Halo 2 is going to be one of the best games ever made. With the reduction in price, I think that this would be worth the price of getting the games plus the other classics on xbox.
The conversations turned though when we got onto the subject of who was the best game player. The thing it comes down to is the fact that you are the best game at the ones that you have the most interest playing and the most time dedicated to play. For me, I own the Final Fantasy series, but that isn't really skill, because if you level up enough pretty much most things become easy to beat. But since I am a football fan, I am very tough to beat when it comes to Madden, most especially 2001, when I had the most time to play, but because I never had enough time to play 2004, I am not nearly as good. So I guess the question I wanted to ask the board is, is there a game that you absolutely are unbeatable, or just so much better at that one game than you are any other? | Promote this thread! | | ekedolphin

I bought the Super Mario 3 Strategy Guide from Nintendo Power, and stayed up night after night memorizing the damn thing.
And I didn't even own a Nintendo. I played it at my friend Craig's house. In fact, I didn't own Mario 3 in any capacity until about a year ago, when I bought a Super Nintendo and got the Mario All-Stars game. Even after being away from Mario 3 for that long, I still kicked ten kinds of ass in that game. It was like I'd never stopped playing.
I'm also very good at Sonic 1, 2 and 3, and Sonic & Knuckles. Those games, at least, I've owned for many years.
I like to consider myself very good at sports and RPG games of many shapes and sizes... but I'm simply dominant at the aforementioned games. I mean, to the point where I use it only to pass the time. It's still very fun, but I don't have to actively think about it-- particularly with Mario 3. | Quezzy

When it comes to playing at home, or playing with friends I dominate at NCAA Football (any of them), I remember one weekend my youth went on a trip and during our down time everybody would challenge me and i'd win by scores of 60 - 10. That being said, I've never played online, and if I did I'm sure there's plenty of people who would school me, some people are just scary good at video games.

I own so many games for different systems that usually, I never have time to devote myself to master one game. A common occurrence is having someone come over and they dust me on my own game. But there is one game that I shall maybe never be fucked with. And that is Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag. When I was in the military and there would be Tekken tournaments going on I would be banned from using certain characters. Last week I was at a friend's house and their kids was annoying me wanted to play Dragon-Ball GT crap with them. After getting my ass handed to me for 30 minutes I noticed they had Tekken Tag. 2 hours later I was 145-0, they where calling their friends over to see if anyone could win at least a match against me. But they grew tired of getting owned and put in Tekken 4 and I got my ass kicked constantly. I use Jin, Kazuya, and Jun exclusively in Tekken Tag but I suck playing Jin and Kazuya in T4. | Doc_whiskey

Moat of the time you just gotta find out what move works for scoring, and then when you play friends you gotta pass a lot, and chack the hell out of them. I also was very scary good at NFL2K2 on the Dreamcast. My friends came up to visit one weekend, and one of my friends could dominate all of the rest back home. I played him and was up 42-0 at half time having given up 0 total yards. Needless to say I had to keep warning him not to break my controller. | Freeway

I whup all kinds of ass at Battle mode in Mario Kart for SNES. I once went 200-0 before everyone finally got bored and we switched games.
I destroy the competition on any of the Smackdown games too, though that's not much of an accomplishment because they are ridiculously easy games to begin with.
I've played every FF game and even though they aren't very skill-based, alot of times I'll replay the game again and make it a point to not level up much and usually am quick witted enough to pull impossible victories out of nowhere. I still can never beat half of those goddamn mini-games though.
With that said, I absolutely cannot play any FPS. I dont know what it is, but I've never been able to grasp the thinking mentality needed to move around and shoot bad guys in those things. | Big Bad

The classic Mario games (particularly Mario 3) hold up as my shining moments of the old NES. Though I was good enough to beat the games, it always took a while and gave me enough of a challenge that it still meant something to do it. Actually, the best part is that now my cousin's little kids have an old NES and play the games themselves, so now I get to impress the hell out of them with all of my tricks at Mario 3 and Punch-Out. Nothing beats hearing that 'Cousin Mark is the best video-game player EVER!' for just pure egotistical fraudulence.
As for overall games.....Tetris, dude. I could put up 150 lines without blinking, and could break the 200 barrier on a good day.

Fighting sucked in 1p because you could always win, but in 2p it added a dimension to the game that was lost in 94.
The one-time shot was a huge addition to '93. In later versions, the one time became a little too cartoony. | HitTheSnoozeButton

I was playing with the Jazz vs. the Warriors (Run TMC-edition) and with the score 60-60 in double OT Mark Eaton (!) hit a 40-foot three-pointer to win the game.
I also ruled at "Bases Loaded" unless the D.C. team threw the submarine-style pitcher who was impossible to get a hit off.
I pretty much dominate NBA Live 2004 and NCAA Football 2004 (2005 comes out 7/13, yeah!), and I thought I dominated NHL 2004 until stupid Sakic got injured and I lost that first-round playoff series to 8th-seeded Vancouver because I suddenly couldn't score. Not that I'm still bitter about it or anything...
I also dominated Tiger Woods 2004 until the last tournament I played which had three fantasy courses that all kicked by butt. But I'd won every tournament up until then. | Reverend J Shaft

My friend and I played this so much that we had to invent a way to make it fun. Therefore, we played the all-star game and took out our goalie. The object for us was to score a hat trick with every player on the West roster (in 10 minute periods - I think) and, of course, still win the game. The hardest player, by far, to do this with was Mark Tinordi (he blew donkey balls). But we'd end up doing it and crushing the hell out of the CPU. Favorite hockey game of all time, indeed. |
