They don't - they attempt to portray themselves as an unbiased news channel. Doesn't mean they are not openly conservative.

Yeah, that website is COMPLETELY objective. No political slant there.

CNN and the big three are about as moderate as you can get. Maybe their reporters are all Democrats - but Democrats stopped being left of the middle a long time ago.

Not even close - and I think CNN and the others are mostly crap, but Fox spins practically everything. Just admit you like the way it's spun - fine, I can accept that - but don't portray it as some gospel of truth when it's obviously leaning to the right.

All journalists have a perspective - there's no such thing as "objective journalism". It's something we expect, but it's a myth. That's why having a wide range of choices (greater than the 5 or 6 main ones we have) is important.

I mean really WTF is that? Did that ever get said about Clinton? Bush#1? Reagan? Carter?

And Rather also went on Letterman and said, "George Bush is the President. He makes the decisions and...wherever he wants me to line up, just tell me where." From the web site YOU even posted:

There's your "liberal" media for you. One of the most regarded anchormen in television. Please.

Well considering from the clip I saw it already has known lies in it, I would hope not. I mean one would think a documentary should be showing people the truth.

Why would you think that? A documentary is not about 'truth,' no matter what the filmmaker might try to tell you. A documentary (like any film) is based on the director's own personal opinion and vision, for lack of a better term. Joe Director can claim to have a documentary that shows the truth because it's 'real-life' footage, but they can edit it any way they want to make it show whatever they want. Does that make the filmmaker a liar? No.

Also, it should be noted that Moore is generally even-handed in his disrespect towards authority figures of all political affiliations. He slams Clinton in his first book, and you can bet that if John Kerry is elected and fucks something up, then Kerry is Scary or some such film will be hitting theatres near you in 2006.

Edit: Roger Ebert puts this much better than I could. Click Here (suntimes.com)

Ah yes leroy, Dan Rather said he would line up to go to war. He is a patriot. But, as many people here on the W will tell you, and have told us, you can be patriotic and still not support the president.

Nice of you to look at that website and find the ONE THING that doesnt paint Dan Rather as a liberal.
Now, please have a look at this page, and see the kinds of comments he makes and where his "objectivity" is:

Media research is ridiculous thing to cite as they are all about cherry picking stuff out of context. My favorite being the quote ellipsis followed by"Reagan couldn't tie his shoelaces" quote. The number of ellipsis found in MRC' stuff should be a good clue that they are full of BS.

Spinsanity is pretty accurate here:
http://www.spinsanity.org/ columns/20020701.html

Spinsanity does a nice job attacking spin/bias both from left and right. I kind of find them annoying since, well I like watching firey TV ministers and like some passion along with policy disccusions.

Spinsanity pretty much works from thesis that the press is inherently lazy and engages in pack journalism...wether left or right.

You can or cannot choose to believe that but even if you want to argue that the press is left wing, mediaresearch and Brent Bozzel are frauds. Using them as defense hurts any argument.

Double trouble crap on a stick, did you just link to the L. BRENT BOZELL? Awesome site, dude. Almost the worst thing I read today.

I'm gonna go see it! I hope it makes the President out to be an idiot because I hate that guy, seriously you guys. (Credit where due: Cheney was good in The Day After Tomorrow.)

I gladly stated that MRC was a biased website. however, that doesnt preclude the fact that they actually report what was actually said on the television, in the name of NEWS.

I will check out the spinsanity website and see what that is all about.

EDIT: Jeez Shapiro, how old was that article?! LOL!

Haha, it's from summer 1999 and, I think we'll all agree, startlingly prescient on just about everything.

No way in hell I'm going to see F9/11. I WILL check that Michael Moore Hates America film out since it looks more like something that shows what a lying, hypocritical prick Michael Moore is, as opposed to the thinly veiled political ad that is F9/11.

I'm honestly not that interested in going to a movie and having someone trying to tell me how to vote. I'm pretty middle of the road with a slight lean towards conservatism, but at this point I'm about ready to vote for an independent in the upcoming election since both candidates are pretty frustrating.

When I go to a movie I want to be entertained. At least MMHA looks entertaining.

To those who are interested, a very brilliant, well written review...or piece by Christopher Hitchens on Michael Moore and his new film:
