Interesting. I usually buy a football & basketball game every other year (buying the same thing every year is too much overkill for my taste). This was the year I was finally going to jump to Madden since they will have XBL enabled for XBox users...then Sega finds a way get me to stick with them another year.
Boy am I glad I just bought an Xbox. Yes, I will still be purchasing Madden. But I will also be purchasing ESPN. ESPN's top 5 list blows Madden's out of the water. Aside from the Storyline mode and the Defensive playmaker, Madden doesn't seem to have that much gimmick stuff to interest me. Create a fan? Please. And there are so many assholes online that I'm scared to even try. As for ESPN. Well, VIP is worth twenty bucks alone. I want to see how well I can play against my CPU self. Most people can't cope with my hurry up offense, and I'm anxious to see if I can tune my OWN defense to beat it. Just freaking awesome.

I must've missed this earlier in the thread. This is totally awesome.
I'll probably end up getting both for the PS2, although I'll only have to spend my money on one edition.
(I need to click [and read] links before I respond.)

Damn you ESPN. Now I got a problem. Do I get ESPN due to its cheapness and good play, or do I get Madden since all my friends play that one online, and since I'm moving, I still would be able to play them.
Kind of on topic, but there were rumors that EA would charge an extra fee for XBL and start charging for PS2 online. Anyone hear anything about this, and if so has it been shown to be true?

www.espnvideogames.com just updated their website with a bunch of pictures and videos of the presentation aspects of the game, and holy crap does it look and sound great. There's a video of Kolber interviewing players on the field. There's two videos of the halftime report with Berman, one for Xbox and one for PS2. Unfortunately, due to the lack of hard drive, PS2ers like myself only get still shots during halftime, while Xboxers get actual highlights from the game. There's a video of the end of week Sportscenter with Berman, Wingo, and Kiper. One of the coolest features I've never seen mentioned: the fictional college players actually have real faces, no more black silhouettes. With the real faces, and Kiper talking about them, it'll actually feel like drafting real players as opposed to made up names. Man, it actually feels like you're watching ESPN in this game, I can't wait.
