I just thought of something... Since they made the Jericho/Steph/HHH match on RAW a triple threat, do you think theres a possibility of Jericho and HHH both pinning Steph at the same time (DOUBLE TEAMED wink wink) and both claiming to be the champ (like Jericho and Chyna, haha) but Jericho would get the WCW title and HHH the WWF title, splitting the championship, and both going to different promotions? the lightbulb just went on and i decided to post it.

EDIT: I changed "going to one promotion" to "different promotions. ACK.

I think you have something there. Looks like that may happen. Good thinking.

I only hope for ONE thing: Steph McSlut doesn't win. If she does (I doubt it), it'll be the worst title winner since David A. won the WCW title...

Didn't they already announce that the Unified world champion can go between both shows though? Why would they split the belts after already announcing that?

Because if they said "the WCW title will be on Raw and the WWF title will be on Smackdown" then that would be giving away the fact that they are splitting them again.

I like the idea of one champion for both rosters. The way they're doing it now especially works, because the champion holds two belts which can be easily divided, should they choose to take that route later.

I don't really like the idea of that one champion being HHH, though, because he's going to hold that damned thing forever this time around. We'll see what happens, though.

If this were to happen (and it is actually a good idea, so it probably won't) it's not like the WWF ever back tracked on some type of stipulation. It's not like it was something that has been set in stone and has been used without questioning it for years... The WWF has even gone back on "rules" like that, so something mentioned as a side note to the announcement of the split is nothing.

Linda didn't say the "unified champion" would go between both shows. If I remember correctly, she said the "men's and women's champions."

For what it's worth.

Well i just re-read CRZ's RAW recap and it says the WWF women's champ and men's champ. So i guess i missed that part. Sorry about that. It didn't actually say Unified champion so it's a bit vague. Could you imagine both champs floating between rosters?

I really hope they don't do that. Two men's World Champions floating between both rosters would make both belts pretty meaningless, as when Rock had the WCW belt and there was no reason for anyone to want it other than they needed to keep it around until the unification.

If they split it and are planning for a long-term split, having one champion for each Brand Extension (yeah!) would be fine, and any heel who holds one gets to take a dig if the opposing Brand Extension Champion is a face by doing a "Real World's Champion" thing. In a long term scenario, each Brand Extension's roster needs something to shoot for.

If they want to keep the belts together, that's equally cool. I'd like to see this if they can make things into that early Nitro vibe where it looked like the whole world wanted the Big Belt, and you had wrestlers from Japan, Mexico and North America showing up on the show. Having World Brand Extension Raw's roster and World Brand Extension Smackdown's roster all gunning for one unified title, with a champion having to face two different sets of challengers, gives it the feel of the real prize in wrestling that everyone is shooting for.

You would also have an entire roster of guys having to root for their challenger, because he gets to represent their Brand and show up the other one, assuming the split rosters stick around long enough. Sort of like having, say, Angle going for the belt and maybe Kane's on his roster and says "I may not like that Kurt Angle, but if he wins the title, then our Brand Extension better represents itself to the public and opens our Brand up to better merchandising opportunities and creates a better sense of awareness with the public for WWF Raw's Brand Extension Identity, thereby enabling us to gain better profit revenues and shelf presence in the key population retail center chain locations throught the nation. It's really a good move for us all, financially speaking."

Or something like that. You get the idea.

Given the history, who would be the bigger abomination:

David Arquette as WCW Heavyweight Champion

or

Stephanie McMahon as Unified World Champion?

Personally, I would think that it would be Steph in a no-contest. Yes, putting the WCW Heavyweight Title on a cruiserweight B-grade movie actor was a terrible move. But putting *both* men's heavyweight titles on the promoter's daughter would kill the WWF - few people would respect the WWF or its' titles after that.

Steph winning the title COULD be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it would disrespect and damage the title lineage beyond belief. On the other, once Vince sees the complete and total rejection that the fans would give Steph, he may buck his ideas up and freshen up the product. Hey, I'd hate it, too, but I'm DDP-I look for the GOOD thing in every scenario.

I still think that they should keep ONE set of champions for BOTH programs. That way, the titles would mean something-the champions would be on both shows and get bigger paychecks. Pushing this concept on TV and in commentary could freshen things up a bit-it's also quite a realistic scenario.

Would Kane be making these statements while sitting in front of a fireplace, wearing a robe and smoking a pipe?

What would be so wrong with Stephanie as champion and HHH chasing her? I mean it's just the same storyline as we had going into Wrestlemania.

What? Oh, Jericho had the belts! Hell, I forgot.

Actually, I'll be shocked if Jericho and Stephanie don't at least try the Jericho pins Stephanie routine multiple times. I mean Cole was quick to point out that Stephanie has to be pinned by Triple H to leave the WWF, but Jericho wins the belts if he pins her. Seems like a win-win for those 2.
