| #1 Posted on 26.5.04 2213.43 Reposted on: 26.5.11 2213.43 | I don't know how many poker players/watchers/followers are here but the 2004 WSOP is in full swing and www.pokervoice.com has been running a blog.
I won't toss in any spoilers but it looks like it should be some good TV come August when it appears on ESPN.
The Texas No Limit Holdem was capped at 2600 contestants with a grnad prize of $5 million. Not only that but it means that there are a total of 26 million in chips on the tables.

Both very up to date. On the final table, pokerstars.com will recreate hand by hand the table till the end almost realtime. $5 million in the pot incredible!
Edit: Espn has the schedule up and running already, love that they are showing lots of different tourneys, not only the NL one. Click Here (espn.go.com)

The link includes spoilers, but I'll just say that reading the blog entries from pokerpages made this look like the most fun couple hours of poker this side of a day where Hellmuth takes 300 bad beats in a row. $5,000 Limit Hold-em Results (pokerpages.com) | chuckc14

Jesus...I think last year only 800 turned out. I heard somewhere (maybe PTI?) that Ben Affleck got in this year. And I'm pretty sure the TV coverage starts in early June doesn't it? | MedallaGuy

| #5 Posted on 27.5.04 1058.52 Reposted on: 27.5.11 1059.00 | The best celebrity this year was Cousin Sal from the Jimmy Kimmel Show who lasted till late Monday night. Also Laura Prepon(sp?), the red head from That 70's show and ex baseball player Bobby Bonilla lasted till late Monday. The best showing for me was Jimmy Woods who won the last satellite to enter the WSOP saturday night, but he got knocked out early out of the competition.
I read somewhere in Espn.com, but outside of the link I posted that there will be a 24 hour marathon June 7 of the old WSOP's and that the 8th they will begin the programming.
The action is looking incredible, lots of bad beats and taunting last night...let's see what happens.

Toby Maguire was ousted on Day 1 also. Looking at the chip counts from last night and you have to give it up for Dan Harrington and Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson.
Chris had around $400K in chips yesterday and apparently he got as low as $70K before doubling up twice to around $400 so it seems like he doubled a third time before the night ended. That would be a run to see.
Doyle Brunson held out until yesterday, which is pretty amazing since he is 70 years old. ESPN should give the 'Babe Ruth' of poker a lot of airtime.
Gus Hansen's exit could be described as 'ouch.' (http://www.pokervoice.com/index.php?a=l&p=6) If it pages back look for the entry date of Wednesday, 26 May 2004 at 3:26 am. |

Alternatively, you could've just started a spoiler thread instead of adding onto a non-spoiler thread. Which is what I ended up doing here, because I'd have to read your posts closer to figure out what I should take out, and I don't want to read spoilers myself. | Sec19Row53

This is my 'older brother' who moved out to Arizona last year and has since become a full time gambler and part time grad student. He won an online tournament that paid his entry and expenses. He made it to monday before he went all in with queens, and got beat by the 1994 champ who had kings.
