So I had seen Club Dread in the theaters (one of the few who did apparently), and thought that as a horror movie it wasn't great but as a comedy it was very funny. That being said, I was only mildly intrigued to see it on DVD. The only thing that pushed it over the top was the cover box (as well as the Blockbuster box) stating that there was a commentary track with the Broken Lizard troupe.

So I rented the DVD today, and went to the special features. I only found an ad for the soundtrack to the movie. I said okay, I'll at least start the movie and use the subtitle button on the remote. It turns out that there is NO commentary track on the DVD I rented from Blockbuster, again despite the fact that it is advertised on both boxes.

Now I've seen deceptive advertising on DVD's before, but I have never seen anything like this. I invite anyone on this board that works at Blockbuster to let me know if they have heard any complaints from people about this. I also want to know if anyone else has rented or bought this DVD and if they have the "missing" commentary track. I'm legitimately confused here. HELP!

Did you try the "audio" button? Subtitle button is for, just that, subtitling. Most, if not all, commentary tracks are NOT subtitled.

I'm sorry. The audio button is what I meant. Trust me, I tried ALL the buttons, all in vain. The commentary track is just not on my DVD.

Extras

There are not very many extras included on this DVD. In fact the only real extras that there really are are the Commentary by Jay Chandrasekhar and Erik Stolhanske and Commentary by Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, and Paul Soter. Both have their moments, but the second was the most enjoyable of the two.

The only other extra is the Soundtrack Spot.

Where the rest? Did they get slashed?

----------
Maybe BB got a barebones DVD at a cheap price, or the disc is misprinted. The Holy Grail release was misprinted so that on some players the subtitles would randomly come on and off, so it's not uncommon for this to happen.

I figured it out...I'm (sort of) an idiot. It turns out that, even though it doesn't say so on the BB box, Club Dread is a two sided-disc. Turning the DVD over has yielded the commentary tracks. Weirdly enough, the only other DVD that I own that does this is The Usual Suspects, so I wasn't ready for this. Thanks for your help though Mr. Zeruel.

No problem for the help.

It's really easy to tell a two-sided disc if you know what to look for.

Any disc without disc art is two-sided. All the disc info is on the ring.

If it has one side with graphics/art work on it like a CD, it's one-sided.

That's pretty fuckin' strange, having a commentary track on one side of a DVD, while having the regular audio on the other side. What, they couldn't have made it a one-sided disc and just had alternate audio tracks?

Or did someone decide, “You know what, I'm not spending any more money to produce this damn thing than I have to”?
