| #5 Posted on 16.5.04 2044.49 Reposted on: 16.5.11 2044.54 | Another mistake was during the RVD/Mysterio v. Dudleyz match. In mid match, RVD's entrance music started playing through the PA system. Obviously, the guy was cueing up the music, and accidentaly fed it to the arena's loud-speakers. Kinda' gave away the ending.
As far as the show goes so far: RVD/Mysterio v. Dudleyz was pretty good and Cena v. Dupree was better than expected. The rest has been total thumbs down territory. | redsoxnation

That was a beautifully thrown elbow. Hopefully, the league offices view it as an elbow rather than a punch though, or the Kings play 7 down 1. | Spaceman Spiff

| #9 Posted on 16.5.04 2150.03 Reposted on: 16.5.11 2150.48 | Really good main-event. They used all the tricks with ref-bumps and blood. And both guys carried their ends to perfection. The atmosphere was awesome as well, with the fans going nuts for Guerrero and booing Bradshaw out of the building. If their match at Great American Bash is as good as this than more power to them in headlining another PPV. Can lightning strike twice?
And I must say that the blade-job by Guerrero was one of the best and sickest I've ever seen. Literally three seconds after getting whacked with the chair, blood was covering Eddie's face, upper body (front and back), the floor, and most of Bradshaw, and you could see it continue to poor out. Remember Undertaker's blade job in the Hell In A Cell match at No Mercy 2002? It was on that level. Maybe even worse. | Hurrikane757k

| #10 Posted on 16.5.04 2155.23 Reposted on: 16.5.11 2157.01 | One thing I just realized is that Bradshaw guaranteed victory tonight... he didn't win the title, but he did win by DQ. Interesting, although a DQ in a PPV main event is pretty lame. Gotta check out this Eddie blade job, sounds like it's one of the all-time best (or worst, depending on your perspective).
The undercard sounds like it lived up to expectations: crap. I'm surprised that Cena went over clean, that feud could have been extended until next month's PPV... but with a Eddie-JBL looking to headline that, I guess that creative doesn't want to go with too many rematches. And thank God Chavo has the cruiserweight title back. | Hokienautic

Not necessarily. Remember, there's two months between PPVs, and in the past they've usually made one of the Smackdowns or Raws a "PPV quality" show when they have two months to waste. It's possible that Eddie finishes off Bradshaw before June and moves on to another challenger for the GAB. | jwrestle

QUICK RESULTS:
RVD/Rey Mysterio defeat the Dudleys
Torrie Wilson defeats Dawn Marie
Mortiki(sp?)defeats Scotty 2 Hotty
Rico/Haas defended against Gunn/Holly
Chavo Gurrero defeats Cruiserweight champion Jaqulene to regain the title
John Cena defended against Renee Dupree
Undertaker defeats Booker T.
John "Bradshaw" Layfield defeats Champion Eddie Gurrero by DQ

Dudleyz and Cena v. Dupree were both good. The main-event was great (look above for my opinions). Other than that, the show was crap. But two good matches and one great match was about a billion times better than what I was expecting for this show. | Cheesehead

Except that, as you pointed out, GAB is in June (27th to be exact) and so therefore they only have a little over a month to build to the next PPV. To have Eddie/JBL rematch plus build up another contender feud by the Bash would be rushing it...which doesn't necessarily mean it won't be done. | Hurrikane757k

| #18 Posted on 16.5.04 2209.58 Reposted on: 16.5.11 2210.11 | My two cents....
I kept saying to myself, I'm not going to watch this. Yet at the last minute, I did. My gut instinct was right; I should have listened to it.
In fact, the only thing redeemingly quality of the entire show was the entertaining antics and signs of ITR regular and Hollywood stand-out Stuart Stone (you may have seen his signs such as "Schmoz", "Stu Fears CRZ", "Booker Shango", "SWA", "DUD" and "*****"). That was about it.
For at least the second time in his WWE career, Booker T got seriously shafted by jobbing cleanly to The Undertaker. What was the point in losing to someone who will be making "rare" appearances? I will say the main event was better than I expected, though not much. I understand the finish of that one, yet it wasn't the 'send people home happy' decision you'd think would make sense. The rest of it was 3 hours of pure crap.

I'm not a Dupree fan, but booking him to win the U.S. title would have ensured at least a month of intense (yet cheap) heel heat. Evil Foreigner + U.S. Title writes itself. Hell, giving Cena the impetus to regain his honor and America's honor at the Great American Bash would have been simple booking as well. It might have provided additional depth to Cena's character, which would have been beneficial down the road. | Hurrikane757k

They're adding on a RAW PPV in October as well... so they have 14 PPVs this year, and I believe the plan is to expand it to 20 per year (Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble, Summerslam, Survivor Series, then 2 brand-exclusive PPVs for each of the other months) |
