Gotten from EAsports.com
1) Officially now EA will be on Xbox live
2) New features for Madden include:
-New Hit Stick — Change the momentum of a game by using the right analog stick to make a huge hit, force a turnover, and send the crowd into a frenzy. Time it just right or you’ll get burned for a big play.
-New Defensive Playmaker Control — You are now in complete control on defense. Modify pre-snap assignments, including double teams and player-specific match ups, for any defensive player on the field.
-New Storyline Central — Get inside the NFL like you never have. Now your games are impacted by the stories that surround your team. Satisfy your star WR’s demands or watch your team chemistry suffer. Get the scoop from local and national newspapers, email from assistant coaches, and Tony Bruno’s weekly radio talk show.
-Enhanced Franchise Mode — Players now react to everything that happens in the franchise—reward a hard-working player by naming him team captain or trade away unhappy players. The new game-by-game progression system rewards players for their performance during the season.
-New Fan Presentation — Your team’s crowd is now customizable with new Create-a-Fan. Be on the lookout for team-specific super fans via all-new 3D fan scenes.
-New EA SPORTS™ Online — Take on the best Madden players in quick tournaments, or compete in a mini-game of Rushing Attack. Improved EA SPORTS Fair Play keeps the playing field level.

3) Features for enw college football include:
-Electrifying Stadium Atmosphere: Watch the visiting team fight crowd noise when calling audibles and hot routes. Pump up the crowd and build up your home field advantage to take opponents out of the game.
-New Match-Up Stick: Track the crowd’s impact on players and see if they have enough composure to withstand the pressure.
-Top 25 Toughest Places to Play: Build your team’s stadium atmosphere to rank among the elite stadiums in the country. See, hear and feel the immediate impact from hostile environments like LSU’s “Death Valley,” “The Swamp” at Florida, Michigan’s “Big House,” and Nebraska’s “Sea of Red.”
-New Custom Celebrations: Revel in your favorite team’s competitive spirit. Celebrate in style with team-specific fan celebrations like the Gator Chomp.
-Deeper Dynasty Mode™: Monitor discipline levels and grades to ensure your program’s integrity, while recruiting promising high school athletes and converting them into skilled position players. Keep players happy with playing time or risk them transferring to one of your rivals in the off-season.
-New Gameplay Enhancements: Choose from new custom playbooks, offensive schemes, and defensive formations that include the 4-2-5 and 3-3-5 Stack.

Dammit. They do this every year.

Every year I say to myself, "You know...you can probably take a year off. What the hell good are updated rosters anyway?" And every year they tweak it just enough that I say to myself, "Ok, I'll get this year's, but next year I'm taking off."

Wait, do you mean mashing on my buttons, making my linebacker wave his arms wildly as if he's going to fly away before the snap had no effect BEFORE?

I know I should trust Tiburon, because they've given me no reason not to, but it seems like these new features could be easily exploited. Based on what I've read, player's "composure" will rise or fall during a game based on their performance, age, and where they're playing. So I'm going to start drooling whenever I line up against a freshman corner, 'cause if you burn him once, he's toast ALL GAME LONG.

Also, the mag I was reading said that if you're in a particularly hostile environment, and the crowd is completely insane, your controller will actually vibrate with it. Insane.

I know...damn them and their ability to make progress. Because really, NCAA 2004 is damn near perfect and then they do something to make it that much better.

Just the thought of having to try to monitor discipline levels for the Hurricanes during a dynasty mode is worth the $50 right there. :)

Sounds like the Madden Franchise mode will be very similar to the EA 2004 baseball game's Dynasty mode, with player happiness, updates from newspapers, etc.

And the new Dynasty Mode on the 2004 baseball offering ROCKS.

I'm there.

Does this mean that the Hoggettes will make an appearance for the 'Skins? I will fork over my $50 right away if that's the case. Let's just hope they finally get an accurate model of FedEx Field.

Potentially interesting updates, especially those "storyline" ones. Especially if they enable some form of downloadable storyline stuff. I doubt EA would release any "official" scandal-oriented stuff but that'd certainly make for an interesting game... crushing all comers, rampaging your way to an awesome season when WOOPS, my QB just got busted for a drunken police chase (or something similarly juicy), NOW what?

And if they can do it for the football games, it'd only be a matter of time before they added it to the wrestling titles.

I haven't seen any of the articles, but will the EA games cost extra to play Live? Wasn't who gets the subscription fee part of what was holding up EA in the first place?

For those of us who play the Eagles, having to deal with accurately modeled fans isn't that much of a selling point...

I always wondered if the fact that my Stadium Maintenance was ridiculously high in 2004 was due to the less than saintly nature of the Philly natives coupled with my crowd pleasing $ a beer promotion.

I guess we'll get unruly tubby gentleman with feathered sleaves and, um, thats it. If they have the fans lobbing snowballs at the opposition this year though, I'm sold anyways. More so if you can control said lobbing.

I hope that you can create the drunk guy that falls asleep in the third quarter. That guy always winds up next to me, and putting his head on my shoulder.

I'd rather they focused on making the "custom uniform" feature a little tighter. (Like HOW can I make the Pats' 3rd jerseys if I can only use the Eagles or Broncos number-style?)

Also, they should make a setting for Eagles fans where, if an opponent suffers a career-ending neck injury and has to be carted off the field in a full-body brace, you can still boo him and make fun of him the whole time.

There are several things that I'd much rather see.

Multiple-position players (DE/OLB, DE/DT, DE/DT/FB(in the case of one AFC All Pro), CB/FS, FS/SS, etc.), greater C.A.U. customization, a better draft pick scouting system(!), which should have more info naturally listed, franchising players, the two free agent seasons(pre draft and post June 1st, with the cap implications following...

I hope they fix a few bugs. One in NCAA is that they keep referring to Byrd Stadium in College Park, MD as being in Baltimore (um, no) and on the Bay (um, no).

Madden:

Time Outs don't work. I hit time out and then the play clark falls to 25 seconds and starts running. Where's the time out? shouldn't I get 1 or even 2 mins to flip through my play book?

Fair Catch Kick. At the end of the half or game, if I take a punt or kick off and fair catch it, I may put the ball into play, even though there is no time on the clock, with a try. If I were down by 3 or less, and took a muffed kick deep in their side, and I could make a FG, I should be able to do it. Yes, it would be extremly rare where this would effect the game.

The Raven Catch. Advancing caught Field Goals. One can not catch a missed FG in this game.

Laterials. Still not in the game, sigh. Hopefully after that NO game where they nearly tied it, they will put it back in.

Kaz, techinally you can put players in different positions. In 2003, my Skins had 2 out of 5 WRs knocked out of the game, Champ Baily and a SS were made the #4 and #5 recievers on my Depth Chart. They had pretty good ratings for a WR.

But I get your point about moving them freely between positions. I don't know about the 2004 system, but the 2003 system was awesome, but I drafted my 2003 Draft Class...I never use the built-in random college players.
