FOOTAGE! from last week's main event, with video effects and BGM.

Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight, never running from a real fight, because it is time to WAKE UP! It's Raw, live from San Jose, CA...and a Fashion Report, too! The stage is camera-right this week.

HHH, in black iron-cross undies, with FOOTAGE! of Shelton beating him, vs. Shelton, in red singlet with silver trim (rolled down). Mike Chioda is the referee, in black/white stripes. Fan Fashion - Gumby is present in the second row. Shelton is owning HHH. But then Shawn, in black wifebeater and jeans, makes with the run-in. HHH flees through the crowd. Um, no contest?

Shawn gets on the mic to challenge HHH. But Bisch, in black suit and blue shirt, is out to put the nix on any shenanigans this week. Bisch calls for the Rent-a-Cops to escort Shawn from the building 'cuz he's suspended.

FOOTAGE! hyping Orton vs. Edge.

In the Evolution locker room, Flair gives the troops a pep-talk. Bisch arrives on the scent to book HHH vs. Benoit for the Title next week.

Tajiri, in black pants with dragon and flaming left hem, vs. Batista, in black undies with arcing red flame. Jack Doan officiates. Batista takes control by attacking Tajiri's back. Man, Batista probably needs to do lots of stretching. Spinebuster->pin. An average match. Post-match Batista delivers a further beating. Ah - Tajiri's insides ARE green.

Stacie, in one-piece blue denim sleeveless/legless bodysuit, pimps some Diva dreck. Fortunately Gail, in red top and black hotpants, and Molly, a blonde, in red/black/white top and black pants, put the kibosh on that; they also rough-up Stacie. Victoria, in white bra and hotpants, is out. So is Jazz, in black. So is Nidia, in black bra and hotpants. The heels flee.

In the back, the face women pow-wow. Meanwhile, in the back, Todd interviews Jericho, who cuts a promo on Christian!.

Randy, in red "Orton" undies with hip bolts, wearing the IC Title vs. Edge, in blue tights with white "Edge" splats, his left wrist in a cast, wearing the Tag Title. Chad Patton is the referee, in the usual referee stripes. There is much standoff/even-matched-ness to start. Edge quickly and solidly takes control by working the back. Mid-match Flair comes out, along with AdBreak.

Cont. Orton is in control. Flair has lost his sportscoat, being down to a pink shirt and khakis. Ooo - Edge spears Orton off the apron and into the barricade. OMG - Orton's attempted headscissors(?) countered into a powerbomb! Edge spears Flair on the apron, and Orton gets the pin (with tights) on the rebound. A nice match, if slow (and uninspired before the ad break).

FOOTAGE! from last week's FOOTAGE! of Eugene's training. Presently, in the back, Eugene stretches while Regal looks on. Bisch comes by to speak to Regal, asking that he have Eugene throw the match in return for Regal getting his roster spot. (What - they're going to rig the result of a wrestling match!?)

JR, in black hat and sportscoat with blue shirt, red tie and hanky, and Lawler, in black/gold shiny scaled shirt, lament the selling-out of poor Eugene.

Face women: Stacie, Nidia, and Victoria, vs. Heel women: Jazz, Molly, and Gail. Jack Doan is the referee. Much punch/kick ensues. Victoria submits to Gail. Nidia and Stacie never got tagged-in.

Smackdown! (Oh God, no - make it go away!) Rebound: 'Cuz they know you don't watch it.

In the back, Todd interviews Christian, flanked by Trish and Tyson. Christian isn't afraid of his match ('cuz he's got lackeys). Post-interview, Trish visits Lita and taunts her with a fake Kane-sighting. Lita brings the whoop-ass.

Mattitude, in black/white coat and pants (man, I like that coat), with Lita and FOOTAGE! of last week's crap (Ms. R. saw that stuff and said it's "stupid") vs. Val. Um, but Kane's head has attacked Val backstage; so we don't get a match. Kane, breathing heavily, wants an answer from Lita. (But wait, it will get worse!)

Rob Conway, in sparkly blue military coat and blue "La Resistance" undies, with Quebec flag, with Sylvan, in same. Regal psyches Eugene in the back (and see that tortured look on Regal's face as he's torn about what to do). Rob vs. Eugene, in white jacket and slick blue undies, with Regal, in black suit, white shirt and silver tie. Chad Patton is the referee. The crowd is massively behind Eugene. Regal tries to trip Eugene, but weasels his way out of it. Eugene with the rollup and bridge. Average match.

FOOTAGE! of Benoit.

Bisch is out, with Johnny Weekly, in brown shirt (top two buttons open) and black pants. Bisch allows Johnny to announce Trish vs. Lita, next week. Bisch books a 20-man battle royale next week for the Number One contendership.

The cage lowers.

Bisch has joined Lawler and JR on commentary. Lillian announces the rules (as if we don't know them already).

Jericho, in blue silhoutte trunks with pink/white/black rays, vs. Christian, in black trunks with pink "C"s on white crests, with Trish and Tyson. Chioda is the official in the ring; Doan is in control on the outside. After much shenanigans, Tyson is sent to the back. Christian! is the first to bleed - big time. Can Trish's shirt go any higher? Trish tries to interfere with a chair, but she gets put into the Walls. Christian takes that opportunity to make a break for it, but Jericho pulls him back into the cage and puts him into the Walls for a submission. A nice match, but it was rushed. Post-match Jericho poses atop the cage.

Overall: Except for the continued Kane/Lita/Mattitude crapfest (the thing that makes you ashamed to be a wrestling fan), it was a pretty good show. Not as good as last week's, but entertaining nonetheless.

Was I the only one that cringed when Edge countered that head scissors on Orton into a powerbomb? For a sec, I wondered if Randy was getting up.

Not a bad show ... I never thought I'd say this but I'm now intrigued about the whole Eugene/Regal angle and where it may be headed.

Eugene might be retarded, but the man isnt deaf. How could he not hear what Bischoff and Regal were planning? I mean, they were almost yelling their plans out loud. He was like 5 feet away from them!

Hey, if Grandmaster Sexay can come back, why can't I?

I've always liked Nidia, and I never felt like this before, but she looked kind of short and chubby next to Stacy and Victoria.

I must say a pretty good raw. I was getting into it. What made Edge/Randy even more interesting was how the crowd eventually broke out for Randy chants which was confusing but very cool none the less.

So, anyone know the name of the katahajime variation that Orton was using on Edge?

Also, while the Eugene match was enjoyable, he needs to get rid of his entrance music! EESH!

Wow, things surprised me with the Eugene angle. I thought for sure they were going to have Eugene win the cold-blooded Regal's heart and Regal was going to counter the evil Quebecois' outside interference to allow Eugene the win. I was looking forward to a classic Regal chewing out of Bischoff, a la his verbal barrages during his face commish days. Classic stuff.

Hopefully they go there eventually with this. Regal should be won over. Maybe after Eugene beats Regal perhaps.

RAW Thoughts:

I think the finish of the opening contest is really the only result that made sense, in terms of neither guy getting the outright win....Good Tajiri/Batista match, and it's good to see them utilizing Tajiri. I know Fit Finlay was one of the agents to break up the post-match shennanigans, but who was the other? (blue shirt, slicked back white hair). I was thinking Johnny Ace, but the hair didn't look like him....

Orton v.s Edge was good, not excellent. A bit too sloppy in places. Nice powerbomb by Edge when Orton tried a hurricanrana....Nice twist in the Eugene/Regal angle though. Wouldn't Eugene's mom be watching and see that Bischoff is planning against her son- ah, what's the point, WWE does this all the time....Decent women's action. Who's teaching Gail all those kick-ass submissions?....No Matt Facts? How rude!....

Conway v.s Eugene was certainly entertaining, though I was surprised to see the strong crowd reaction to Eugene....Beauty of a video package on Benoit, as usual....Real good cage match, except for Jericho SLOWLY reaching for the cage door as Christian waited a bit too long to grab his legs.

A few thoughts:

I never thought the day would come that a ref in a no DQ/cage match would realize that reaching the ropes does not constitute a break. Nice blade job by Christian. Nice whiff on the kick by Tomko. Still unsure whether Tyson Tomko translates into Nathan Jones with tattoos.
Scary the way the crowd was into the Eugene match. Does strengthen the belief that should the fans be treated to something fun, they react well to it. Should the fans have to hear about doom and gloom/balance of power etc., the fans will start to move away from it.
I don't care if it is as cannon fodder, Brian Christopher should not be near a battle royale that decides a World Title contender.
Could someone try to tell Stacy or Nidia that only one of them is supposed to be on a side of the apron. Sad when 2 wrestlers in a match are worse than Gail Kim, and Jackie Gayda and Lita aren't involved.
And, a funny thing during the SD PPV commercial about Taker, as they say it will be his first match since Mania. Gee, perhaps they should have thought of that before he had a handicap match last week on SD.

Anybody catch the spot during the Edge-Orton match where Randy waited...and waited for Edge to kick him. And that hurricane-into a powerbomb was great. Kane-Matt-Lita=Wrestlecrap.com Eugene was great, and i bought into the gimmick and really felt sorry for him. Darn that evil Bishoff. Man, Regal is still the greatest at facial expressions. The cage match was freaking awsome. Christian bleed like a stuck pig, and you just can't beat that in a good cage match.

RAW was awesome as per usual, and Eugene is officially my new favorite wrestler. I do hope Regal doesn't eventually turn on Eugene, as I would really like to see that combo stick together. Anyhoo, all the matches clicked for me and I enjoyed the whole show.
The only nitpicky problem I had all night was a commercial for the Booker T./Undertaker feud which claimed it would be the deadman's first match since Wrestlemania when he just wrestled last week. Lord only knows I'm reaching for something to be upset about when they haven't updated a commercial in a week.

-I really can't stand WWE Cage Match rules. How do you blow off a feud with two hated enemies running from each other trying to escape. It's nice to see they added pinfall/submission into this, but do away with the escape clause already.

Christian bladed like a champ and he and Trish really carried this feud. I could never and still cannot stand face Jericho.

-Batista didn't quite have the break-out singles showing I was hoping for, but he's still better than he was.

-Bad work by the WWE production team not showing Orton's manly/near paralyzing bump he took from Edge several more times on replay.

-How did Matt Hardy go from being a cool heel into a friggin' geek so quickly?

-Dinsmore really is playing his role well, and saddling him up with Regal was the best move they could have made.

I know Fit Finlay was one of the agents to break up the post-match shennanigans, but who was the other? (blue shirt, slicked back white hair). I was thinking Johnny Ace, but the hair didn't look like him....

I assumed it was former WWE jobber with the stinky glove, Renee Goulet. By the time I realized it might not be I never got another glimpse of him.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I almost forgot that Trish's low-ride pants made me feel like I was 15 years old again.

This is probably the third must see Raw after WM this year. The lottery, the Benoit/HBK, which HHH's interference was such a letdown, and this one. Edge/Orton and Y2J/Christian was enough to keep me tuned.

HHH and Benjamin was good, and I really liked how they played the HBK thing out, well, except for the "suspension". The Edge/Orton match was good too, although I'm about tired of every Evolution match ending with outside interference...it's stale, and getting to the point where I'll see what else is on.

I'm starting to dig the Eugene angle, and I have absolutely no reason why...it's freaking me out man...

The cage match was great, and overall, no real complaints. I did use the woman's tag match to catch up on some of American Chopper, but that's a usual event here..

Finally, I love how every Raw seems to be can't miss..they seem to be such big shows now, where you almost feel guilty if you miss the match. Last week, Benoit/HBK, this week, Edge/Orton, and the cage, next week, a 20 man battle royal for the World Heavyweight Championship. I'm ready and waiting.

No way! Eugene's music was perfect! I laughed out loud. And I'm still so surprised at how OVER Eugene is. I think I've fallen under his spell as well. Him going for the top rope right off the bat at the start of his match was pure gold, and his leg drop tonight, after the half-hearted bounce off the ropes, and then the long, slow run across the ring...genius! Eugene = ratings! There were momments tonight when Regal looked conflicted, maybe even a little choked up about the kid, maybe even a little proud. My prediction: Regal will be won over by Eugene's charms, as we all have, and become his mega-face manager.

RAW is on a roll. Great tribute to Benoit tonight. Awesome cage match. Sure, it had its low points...the women's match, and Edge vs. Orton was a drag.

Okay.... I've been holding out on hope, but I have to say it now. I loved the old wisecracking Edge. I'm just not buying into his new "serious" role. It's not getting over, and nobody seems to know how they're supposed to react to him. It's painful watching the crowd when he comes out. They seem to be thinking, "Uhmmm... are we supposed to cheer now? Okay, we'll try, I guess." Arrrghhhh! Edge must turn heel now, or return to his reeking of awesomeness.

When you're in charge of your two year old brother, it's hard to watch TV, so I only caught bits and pieces of RAW until about where Tajiri attempted to mist Batista.

When I saw Stacy out there, I immediately thought "Okay, Kane usually comes out and makes a save when a crappy segment like this is playing", but this time it was Gail and Molly. Eh, good enough. THEN THEY BEAT UP STACY, YES! Then Victoria comes out, then Jazz comes out...oh, so she didn't get sucked in by the black hole of the WWE creative team. Then Nidia comes out. Then Team GMJ runs from Team SVN...hmm...whatever.

During the Edge/Orton match, little sister Renegade attempted to suffocate littlest sister Renegade, so the oldest sister Renegade, Renegade Raine, had to break that up, making me miss most of the match.

Eugene is OVER~! in the Renegade household.

The whole Renegade family was in the room for the six (wo)man tag match. Mother Renegade asks me if I had to "do" one of the women, which one would I choose? Renegade Raine answers: "Molly or Gail, depending on my mood". Mother chooses Victoria. The six (wo)man tag match is OVER~! with the males in the house.

Trish scaring Lita got me rolling...but I'm sadistic like that.

Kane RULES...too bad Lita doesn't. And I don't like Matt in this kind of rule...makes him look like a pussy.

Man...at first when this gimmick started, I SWORE I was going to hate it, but dammit, Eugene won me over. Regal RULES with all of his facial expressions, reflecting his inner conflict not knowing whether to do the right thing and help Eugene win, or to help himself by making Eugene lose. Again, Regal RULES.

Nitro wasn't quite as kawaii as he usually is, but he was still mildy kawaii. Mother Renegade disagrees though, and thinks Big Show is WAY hotter. To each her own, I guess.

Jericho and Christian...my two favorite guys for a long time, so naturally this was the match I was waiting to see. And it didn't disappoint.

Twenty man Battle Royale next week? I wonder who's going to get the pot lid...

I'll be suprised if more than two people get that reference.

And that's Renegade's Random RAW Rants, Remarks, and Report (somewhat) for the week. :p

Good show. By promoting all the matches so far in advance the fans were right where they needed to be on various contests tonight.

Orton V.S. Edge was passable, and probably the best Orton is capable of at this stage in his career. Some bad selling by Randy at points, but he took the powerbomb reversal spot well. No need to arch the spine there, though, it just puts a pause between the bump and the count a tiny, but distracting momentum buster. Edge seems to be getting better, finally.

No Benoit tonight? Gay. Nice video, though.

I've had about all I can take of close-ups of Kane's face. Please bring back the mask. For the love of God. This man was not made for close-ups. Or public appearances. Or leaving the basement.

Eugene is perfect for the kiddies. He just makes people feel good about themselves. Eugene's the Dude Love of retards.

Cage match ruled, MOTN by far. Even though I am reeally sick of blood on my wrestling TV every friggin' week, this time it seemed to make a lot of sense. Jericho's the shizz.

They have been slowly killing Victoria.

In my opinion, she was the most entertaining woman they had on there for over a year, and suddenly, shes Ivory v.2.0.

And there wasn't a rhyme or reason for it, she's just slowly been changing.

It finally hit me tonight that the old Victoria character has died. And that makes the baby Jesus weep.

Trust me on this one, my mother is FAR from "typical". I'M the most normal one in the family, if you can believe that.
