Prince was fabulous, and looked to be having a GREAT time. During the accoustic set, the crowd response to "I guess I should have known....." from the intro line to Little Red Corvette, was so loud, he stopped playing and was blushing.
Prince had a few funny moments during the show, including trying to do the Beyonce booty dance, and claiming he couldnt because he had no booty.
During a long break/solo in the middle of Controversey, he proclaimed "Can't nobody mess with my band!" and went and plopped into a chair at the side of the stage and pretended like he was trying to sleep, I know, it sounds dumb, but if you see the concert, you will know his facial expressions were saying "Bitch PLEASE! They are so good, I am gonna take a nap!"
Later in the night, he screamed "St Louis, thanks for having me here! Now...... dont let any lip synchers in MY HOUSE again!" A few songs were ommited from what I had read on Prince.org but its okay. I really wanted to see NOTHING COMPARES 2 U again, but I guess once in a lifetime is enough. One thing that was cool was when he was jamming on the guitar, he played the ERUPTION solo from Van Halen, and just SMOKED it!
The band was tight, the music was superb, Rhonda looked FINE. Candy Dulfer and Maceo sounded fabulous, and Prince made me feel like I ripped him off, with all the value my $49.00 bought me! WELL WORTH THE CASH. Crowd on thier feet the entire time, and the place was just rocking. During Purple Rain, at the end, the little OOOOO OOOOO OO OOOOOOOOOOOO part, the crowd was so loud, you could hear them over the band!
Great show, and a great time! Here is a set list:
Musicology Let's Go Crazy I Would Die 4 U When Doves Cry Baby I'm a Star Shhh DMSR/Beyonce tune/I Like the Way You Move(outkast tune) I Feel for U (Candy Dulfer singing her ass off!) Keep in mind that this is my failed attempts to get tickets for one of 3 shows within driving distance (Jacksonville, Atlanta, New Orleans) talking right now, but I hate you.
Hope you can understand

Dammit, you made me spit soda all over my brand new monitor.
Stagger, is this the same band that's on his Las Vegas DVD? I know Maceo Parker played that show, and they were SICK. | StaggerLee

| #6 Posted on 6.5.04 2020.51 Reposted on: 6.5.11 2021.10 | It was Rhonda on Bass, Maceo was there, as was Candy Dulfer, John Blackwell on drums(amazing) Renata on keys, and a trombone player, whose name I cannto remember, and that one guitar player, man, I am braindead, but I think it is basically the same band. They were just SICK! BTW, Prince sounded so good, amazing how his voice has held up so well over the years, with all the screams and growls and other noises he makes.
I was amazed how great Candy Dulfer could sing. WHO KNEW? Why hasnt she had a more successful solo career? BTW, I think I am officially in love with Rhonda, she looks SO hot.

I remember my dad taking me to see Prince in St. Louis when I was about 6 or 7 and the first thing that tripped me out was how short he was. Prince is that man though. Purple Rain still gets me choked up if I listen to it while no one is around. | StaggerLee

I am going to have to get down to Memphis next month to see him! | Mild Mannered Madman
